The Celtics continued to establish themselves as a tough out at home with a ‘hold them off’ 94-86 victory over the Kings. The Celtics dominated much of the game until they took their foot off the gas as the finish line approached. But unlike some previous games the Celtics are not willing to lose a game once they are ahead.

PP, 22 pts, RA 20 and KG 18 with 13 rebounds have returned to form as we are now beginning to see the big 3 that we know and love.

Rajon Rondo was magnificent! He has added a stylistic flare to his skills. It’s not just what he can do but also the way that he does it. Hot dogging?.. Not really.. Cousy use to do things with the basketball that upset some purists and if a torch was ever to be passed from the greatness of Cousy it has landed in the able hands of Rajon Rondo.

I have never seen a player so adept at using his off hand to make passes. Maybe this kid does not have an off hand. The plays that he is making defies physics as we understand how energy moves across the hardwood. It is like he is in playing in another dimension, a mirror when he uses that left hand. And all of us lose our balance. 18 dimes…Wow…

The Celtics won the battle in the paint and on fast break points.

The Spurs up next up and I am looking forward to another win

dboss,
Thanks for keeping the tread up.
Celtics were great, keeping pedal to the metal for 30+ minutes and then decided to coast to the finish line. But it seemed that they miscalculated and didn't have enough momentum to reach that line. So, they had to push the pedal again. I hope they don't do this on Sunday: their pedal will stay close to the metal for 48 minutes.
As for RR, he IS phenomenal.

The Celtics played down to their opponents, once again. A very solid performance through the first half against an inferior opponent playing without their future allstar and lost their starting center due to back strain after just 7 minutes and it still turned into a game in the end. Nate left after spraining his ankle and is only 50-50 for the Spurs game.

1. Rondo had it all going. Career high 18 assists to go with 3 steals. He's obviously having fun. Too bad he wasn't playing up on Sacto point guard Beno Udrih more. This became a game, in part, because Udrih was able to take open jumpers.

2. Pumpsie's favorite whipping boy, Rasheed, played less than 25 minutes and fouled out. He didn't have a particularly good night when it comes to the usual stats (6 point on 2-6 shooting, NO 3pters attempted, 1 rebound) but he did have 3 blocks and 3 steals. Perk was out and so 6'11", 230# Rasheed started against 7'1", 245# Spencer Hawes. Hawes is averaging 10.1ppg, 6rpg and shoots 47%. Last night he had 1 point on 0-1 shooting and 2 rebounds. Being a glass-half-full-but-on-its-way-to-being-2/3-full type of guy, it occurs to me that if Sheed had had a more pedestrian 1 block and 1 steal night, this nine point game might have had a different ending.

3. I love Scal's perimeter defense. He repeatedly prevented the ball from coming around the high screen and driving to the hoop. He even drove the ball BACK a few steps. Why can't more athletic players do that? Oh, yeah, I remember now, it's called "IQ".

4. KG with 4 blocks was definitely "in the house" last night. He was all pumped up and mouthing off like the old days. Must be feeling good and seeing the playoffs in sight.

5. Tony worked hard on both ends of the court again. Very nice to see.

6. Davis came in with his usual energy. Wasn't all that effective, shooting 1-4 and picking up 4 fouls in 15 minutes of play, but he did get 4 rebounds, one of which was one of my beloved offensive rebounds. I thought Landry ate him up.

7. Marquis was looking very pissed off last night. I wonder why?

8. Carl Landry had a game. A very, very nice player. Strong, lunchpail type who works his ass off on both ends. It is clear why Sacto wanted him.

Next, the opportunity for Rondo to torture the Parker-less Spurs.

Last night had as many

"Did you see that moments" as we have had in a while.

Rondos behind the back with his left hand to his left hand on the drive to the hoop at top speed, was simply amazing!
