Teague to Indiana

The Indiana Pacers have acquired point guard Jeff Teague from the Atlanta Hawks in a three-way deal also involving the Utah Jazz, The Vertical reports.
The Pacers will reportedly send point guard George Hill to the Jazz as part of the trade. The Jazz will send the No. 12 pick to the Hawks.
Teague, 28 averaged 15.7 points and 5.9 assists per game last season. The deal likely clears the way for Dennis Schröder to assume a starting role in Atlanta. The Vertical reports that Indiana plans to sign Teague to an extension.
Hill, 30, posted 12.1 points per game and shot 40.8% from three in 2015-16. The Jazz deployed the tandem of Trey Burke and Shelvin Mack at point guard down the stretch last season and return 2014 lottery pick Dante Exum to the fold from injury this season.
The Hawks also hold picks No. 21, 44 and 54 in Thursday’s draft.
Interesting that the Hawks could only basically get a number 12pick for Teague.

It is more interesting that the Jazz would give up pick #12 for a 30 year old Hill.
5 years ago a 25 year old Hill was worth pick 15 (traded from Indiana to SA) so the Pacers, with Paul George already in the fold, could bring in a local kid to be their PG over drafting Kawhi Leonard, who San Antonio took at 15.
Now he is worth pick 12 to Utah 5 years later?!?!?
No way

Ram,
Yeah, that is a little odd. What does that say about Utah's back court of Trey Burke and Dante Exum? It says, to me, that they don't think either of them is ready to step up. Exum missed a year with his injury, but still...

Yeah, it doesn't make much sense to me. Teague is the better player than Hill and both have identical 1 year 8 million contracts so why not just take Teague? Maybe they see Hill as a better leader and more likely to re-sign with them, but still, not worth pick #12 in the draft.
Exum is likely to remain very much in their plans and real young. Alec Burks is a decent combo-guard and Hayward gets some time at SG. Burke is nothing more than a backup. So they had a glaring need for an experienced mentor type who can start at PG for a year and maybe have his playing time slowly reduced as Exum improves if he re-signed. But it was still a heavy price to pay.
The Jazz should absolutely make the 2017 playoffs though.
