As Red Once Said.....I've Seen Enough!
But that was said in better times as Red was referring to a top draft choice he wanted so as to try to disguise his pick. I think he would utter those same words but in a different light after seeing such a promising season turn into trash. Except for a "Miracle on Hardwood" this team as we know it is done. The Team has lost its swagger and killer instincts that made them World Champs in '08. The team is also very much divided into two camps, the Rondo "New Breed" Camp and the "Veteran" Camp. I still go back to the in fighting that took place a few seasons ago when Rondo called a team meeting despite the wishes of Doc not to do so. For me that was a tip-off as to turmoil on The Good Ship Celtics.
Blame can also go out to management and the coaching staff as well. Doc is poor in integrating new talent into a veteran team. What I mean by that is there have been 20 plus games this year when the regulars, be it the starting 5 or the regular bench players were not getting the job done and we were headed for a loss anyway. Instead of inserting Walker, Giddens and Williams into the line-up to give them some real playing time to develop their talent and give the coaching staff a chance to see what they are made of, Doc continues down the old beat'en path without truly getting an evaluation of these players. We lost 2 guys to the Knicks that in my mind can become good solid players in the NBA, Giddens & Walker. I must say that Danny got his pocket picket on that trade with the Knicks. Danny also was not in touch with reality going into this season with no upgrade to several positions, bench point guard and shooting guard. The signing for Wallace was not Danny's fault alone. I think he got caught up in the moment with Pierce and KG selling Wallace who in my mind and may others is a total bust and should be traded even if we have to eat some salary come summer.
By managements signing Rondo to a big 5 year deal, I think this may have given more power or leverage to Rondo who in my estimation is a little ahead of his time in becoming a team leader and not respecting veteran future Hall of Fame players. I believe this may have added to the inner turmoil that was festering for a year or more between the young and old players. Check out PP the Team Captain. I do not see him taking charge of teammates during games or in time outs like in yesteryears, what's up with that?
To sum up my observations and my big disappointment, this summer I believe management must get younger even if it means letting some fan favorites go. We have to. The future Celtics have to be built around Rondo and his explosive speed and that means no more half court offense that favors veteran players. It will also will allow younger players to press other teams in the back court and put pressure on their offense. Again, not a recipe for aging players.
To all Celtic fans, lets do some praying and hope for the best come the play-offs!!!! Go Celtics

Re: As Red Once Said.....I've Seen Enough!
We had possible back ups,but someone refused to play them.Little Nate is forced to play back up point, hows he doing? This team is gonna need to make alot of moves this off season,it could get alot worse before it gets better.Sheed has been a bust, but we got 2 more years of KG's gigantic contract too......an all around player under the radar that will blossom next year is Terrence Williams, wish we could somehow get him to play with Rondo.

112288: You know your stuff and I couldn't agree more. You all know how I think management screwed up personnel wise. Injuries and age took care of the rest. The present incarnation of this team is history!-MD.

Thanks Md. We do have a road to climb to rebuild but I think it will be different this time around. We do have ownership and management who has had a taste of a World Championship and is not afraid to spend money. Together with a possible improving economy this could allow Ownership to open up their purse and spend some additional money that otherwise may not have been spent on in the past.
Wyc is a smart business man. Regardless if he keeps the team or sells, he must improve the team roster with younger talent in order to keep the Celtics in the play-offs and competitive.
Why? If he keeps the team he must have a winning team that will continue to generate revenue through higher ticket sales & luxury box sales, team clothing (Branding Revenue, this in order to pay for the team pay-roll, increase partners profits, and continue to elevate the Celtics value in the market.
If he is looking for an exit strategy for his investment group in the next few years, he is not going to sell a depleted team with aging players and a losing record. That is why he will spend money and trade some fan favorites in order to improve the Celtics and increase market value if he is looking for a future sale. By doing so, he will stabilize or increase revenue and income to give him a bump in sale value. However you look at the big 3, they have value to a team that may be on the verge of going all the way. The come back to us could come in the form of some seasoned young talent and draft choices.
