Nets coach heaps praise on Crowder

Not surprising since it was after one of his best games of the season, Nets coach Kenny Atkinson had some very positive comments about Jay Crowder during the post game meet with reporters:

"He's a tough matchup and he's so versatile. He's built like a 4 man, can play the 3, can play the 4. Brad had him in at the 4 and he made some big plays. The dunk and the two threes I thought were killers.  One in transition, one we helped in off a Horford drive and they kicked it. He's a heckuva player, heckuva competitor. He's really blossomed into one of the better players in the league."

Those words by the Nets coach are exactly why we cannot even think of trading Jae Crowder and also are reasons why we do not need to get any other guy who plays the same position.

Crowder's a great "glue guy."  He's willing to do whatever is needed and makes those around him better.  Maybe not a starting type SF, but the type of player you must have to survive an 82 game season and get you in position to win it all.  One of the factors keeping us from top tier contention right now is our lack of a deeper, higher quality bench. Crowder should eventually help fix that.  If we can draft well this year and next, and sign or trade for one or two more elements we need, Crowder's the type of guy who could one day win a sixth man award.
