Re: Draft Lottery Thread
The stars are perfectly aligned for The Boston Celtics. The so called crap shoot did not crap on us.
We now have the choice to select a player with a complete portfolio of basketball skills. For all the posters that wanted DA to trade the pick believe...believe in the process.

dboss,
This was just the crap shoot leading up to the crap shoot. I'll take the #1 though. At least the dice are a little more loaded...

I never thought I would say this but I cannot imagine that Danny had the guts to trade two well loved players and come up smelling like roses. I don't think anyone blames him for trading Paul now even though he is still so well loved here.

It sure sounds like George is hell bent on playing for the Lakers.
I just hope the Lakers don't give up much in a trade for him.
Supposedly, George will be working with Kobe this summer.
That just adds to the rumors of his desire to play for LA.
Getting the #2 pick could help the Lakers attract top free agents.
LA still has a lot of work to do, but they are on the right path.

A goal is to get rid of one this summer and one next summer.
One will probably be waived next summer if they can't find a taker for them.

Jimmy was horrible.
They were so dysfunctional with him running basketball operations.
They have a fresh start with Jeanie as the boss, along with Magic, Rob Pelinka and the #2 pick.

True.
Now Jeanie, Magic, and Rob will have to clean up the mess left by Jimmy.

The Lakers will be back!
The Celtics are 2-3 years ahead of them with a young team and still have more assets than you can measure
Again I wish that my esteemed board members would do the math before drooling over the Paul Georges of the world. An LA guy that will opt out of his contract after next season. Larry Bird is not stepping down if he knows their young cornerstone will be back.
There are much easier ways to get there. The Celtics cannot and will not trade their #1 pick. Why? Because they do not have to. They still own tons of picks.

Celts are at least 5 years ahead of the Lakers.
There's just no way the Lakers will be a legit playoff team in just 2-3 years.
C - Zubac
PF - Randle
SF - Ingram
SG - Russell
PG - Ball
6th - Clarkson
That team is years from being a legit playoff team.

dboss,
Well said.
Count me among those who laugh when someone calls the draft a crap shoot anyway. It's like batting; you can't expect to hit a home run every time up, and you will strike out sometimes. But if you're persistent and do your prep work well, you'll get enough hits to help win a lot of games.
Maybe those that think it's a crap-shoot just need more at-bats.
Are we now guaranteed a future star? Of course not. But the odds are good. And if we didn't retain the pick, we wouldn't have the opportunity to try. What would we have gotten? George? Butler? It would have taken a lot more than just the pick. And as good as George and Butler would be, the odometer on Fultz, Ball, Tatum and Jackson is probably going to go a lot farther. Plus, we didn't have to trade half the team, along with the pick, to get one of them. You just need to have the b*lls to take a swing at the opportunity. Thankfully, Danny Ainge, a former MLB player, understood the value of keeping the at-bat.
And to get ahead of the next debate that is bound to pop up, no, I don't think he's going to trade this one away.
Regards

That's the Lakers current roster.
I would not be surprised if they offer a max contract to Blake Griffin.
I also would not be surprised if LA trades Russell or Randle.
A lot can change in a short period of time.

Spot on. In my opinion, Fultz is a game changer and with a number of big Free Agents hitting the market this summer and two more very high picks next year, Celtics are in an outstanding position.

With only a 25% chance of getting the #1 pick, three times in a row the ping pong balls bounced Boston's way and the #1 pick came up as Boston.
Here's the ping pong ball draft lottery if you want to watch it.

True.
But it will take more than Blake Griffin to turn this Laker franchise around.
Even with CP3, DeAndre Jordan, and JJ Redick, Blake Griffin has never played in the western conference finals.
Lakers blew their chance for a quick turnaround when Jimmy declined the offer for DeMarcus Cousins.

Re: Draft Lottery Thread
I went into kind of an untimely rant and deleted it. Wonderful 24 hours. I like the guys we have . i`ll leave the Butler ( nice player, no range, don`t think we need him) George ( hasn`t hit a game winning shot in the last 2 minutes in his NBA career) and Hayward comparisons for another day. Bring on the Lebrons--- we`ve already accomplished more than most folks, myself included , expected.

Cousins would not lead to a quick turnaround.
He will be a free agent next summer.
He's #2 on my list after Paul George as fas as 2018 free agents.
I'm glad LA didn't trade Ingram.
