Re: Drexler corrects lebron
Bosh was a somewhat better than average player. Nothing more. Lebron may have an exaggerated opinion of his own worth, but that`s pretty much par for the course among big-time athletes. His personal life seems above reproach. He speaks out , whether one agrees with him or not, on social issues and has done nothing to disgrace the uniform . Years ago , he made a spectacle of his decision to sign with Cleveland and , like Ray Allen, didn`t inform his teammates. Bad decision by a young, high school educated man. I think I am as big a Russell fan as anybody, having watched him play on old black and white TVs , but I`m not going to hold it against the guy that he didn`t know the number of a guy who retired before he was born and more than 30 years before he came into the league. I doubt Russell does either.

That`s between you and him. I`m talking about the subject in general. Not trying to get in the middle of somebody else`s spat.red16russ11 wrote:I have two further comments:
1. For someone who wrote this was much ado about nothing - he's making an awful lot of do out of it.
2. I notice he leaves gyso and all the others alone, and only responds to me. Said I was a know it all, angry, and devisive. I don't recall calling him any names at all................must be getting old.

My opinion - Just fan bias based on team or player loyalty. Sometimes it becomes less pronounced as the years go by.

As far as the term big three, the first pro reference I recall to hearing that was in the early 80's with McHale, Parish and Bird. I'm reasonably sure the term BIG was because they all played in the front court and had as much to do with size as their skill. But a few years before that I heard the term used with the Jacksonville team that made the NCAA final game against UCLA (of the Rowe and Wicks era). The Dolphins featured two 7 footers in their lineup. Artis Gilmore and Pembrook Burrows III. Plus another6-10 forward McIntyer(?).
Again as far as I can see the term was more to do with height than anything else.
