Winner or Big Time Loser?
Okay if Paul George is really hell bent serious about wanting to become a Laker this year or next, what does that tell us about Paul George the player? Great player? Yes. Winner ????
Chances of him of even getting to a conference final nevermind THE Finals are very slim if he goes to the Lose Angeles Lakers. AND, that "slim" chance would most likely happen when he is over 30 and on the way down. If he's your key player thats not a good sign that the team He is on will ever win it all.
So, If this guy is not a winner why would we take a chance on him? If he agrees to an extension on a 53 win team, then its obvious that he sees a chance to win and completely changes the narrative. If not? Dont bother.
Theres another narrative that says the Lakers "plan" on hitting it big in the 2018 FA market and would then become a serious contender with George on board. Maybe, but I think the Warriors and Spurs have a say on how that all shakes out.
I trust that Danny has tossed this and many other scenarios around in his mind. He knows more than I do. I'm just wary of any 27 yr old Superstar player that says he wants to play for a team that more than likely will never win a title during his career.

So that in lies why, if you can bring in PG without giving up too much - you roll the dice.
If he comes to Boston and experiences a city that loves their team, a historic winning culture, good coach, supportive management and great teammates - he may catch the bug and want to stay here long term. And if not, the Celtics get a great player who can groom Jaylen and Tatum to step into his shoes the following year.

I think the laker idea was just a team up with Lebron scenario that he was interested in. I expect that if we are competing for championship, he wouldn't leave. If he did leave, we'd still have Hayward, IT, and Horford. We'd have ready replacements in Brown and Tatum. Likely 2 more high draft picks. We could rent George a year and be in great shape in 2018. Ideally he'd sign an extension next offseason. Adding Hayward and Tatum and holding onto Brown gives extra flexibility

DA cannot make a deal until he talks with George and his agent.
The Celtics need a firm commit that he will resign with us next year else the deal is off

I would have to agree with DBOSS in thinking that unless this guy will sign an extension with us that I would also walk away from even thinking any longer about him.
No way am I giving up two first round picks, Crowder and/or Bradley or Smart for a one year rental of Mr. George.

With the CP3 trade LAC is all in for keeping Griffin and maybe that is a good thing since now they are saying that he may not play until December...he is injury pronoe.

Should Boston consider making a trade for DeAndre Jordan?
It would go a long way to fixing our rebounding issue and at the same time enhance the play of Horford.

It would also clog up the paint and gum up the offense. That's why Danny already turned down a trade for Jordan last week.

I see your point.

Hmmm. How? Horford can play both ways outside in and vice versa. His versatility allows Jordan to play mainly in the paint which is his wheelhouse. ?Rmbone wrote:dboss wrote:Should Boston consider making a trade for DeAndre Jordan?
