MY NOTE: I don't understand the significance of this, Pierce retired, but somehow this has to be part of Danny and Doc's plan for Paul Pierce to retire a Celtic.

On to signing him then, come Monday morning, this is important to me. I know maybe not as important to them??? A little later in the summer?

As I recall the plan is for Boston to sign him for a day this fall so he can technically retire a Celtic. He retired from the NBA, but his rights would belong to LA unless waived.

Paul Pierce officially cleared waivers today. Look for the Celtics to do the sign-and-retire-as-a-Celtic move after things settle down.
