Dixon a 6’6’’ shooting guard, who went undrafted in the 2017 NBA Draft, started 83 of 114 games for The Tribe. As a senior, Dixon averaged 19.2 points per game in 29.5 minutes per game. He shot over 48 percent overall and 37.8 percent from behind the arc on over six three-point attempts per game last season.
Dixon faces an uphill battle to make the Celtics roster, as Boston is well stocked at the wing position. It is likely that Dixon will receive a small guaranteed amount of $50,000.00 or less, which will make him eligible to play for the Maine Red Claws in the NBAGL as an Affiliate Player. Players who are guaranteed more than $50,000.00 are not eligible to play for that club’s NBAGL affiliate team. This is to close a loophole on the maximum amount a team is able to pay a player on a two-way contract.
With the reported agreement to sign Andrew White earlier this week, and the club set to sign Jabari Bird to a two-way contract, the Celtics roster is now full at the maximum of 20 players. Three-year vet Shane Larkin was added last week. Sixteen players have fully guaranteed contracts, Bird will join Kadeem Allen on a two-way contract and White and Dixon fill out the camp roster.
Boston is already set to eat at least one fully guaranteed deal, so it is highly unlikely that White or Dixon can make the roster out of camp. The only path would seem to be if Boston made a trade where they sent three or more players out and took back two or less. With that being an unlikely proposition, Danny Ainge has given Brad Stevens arguably the deepest camp roster of Stevens’ Celtics tenure. That should make for spirited practices and a competitive camp/preseason.

MY NOTE: Al Horford and Aron Baynes. Can anybody name another Celtic on this team that is over 6'9"?

The overall height of the guys on the Boston roster would have been a kiss of death even just several years ago, but the league has changed dramatically. It seems to be pretty clear that Ainge has decided to accelerate the Cs into the new NBA offensive style with how he has been changing his roster right from the very end of last season.
He may be at the front edge of roster building for the space and pace kind of offense. His roster only has one guy (Baynes) who is from the old school type of roster. Everyone else is very mobile even at the expense of being shorter.
Or, he may be a little bit ahead of the league and our team may be out muscled this season.
It will be interesting to see how our roster for this season unfolds.

It's not the size of the bigs that has changed - it's the roll that many now play that has changed, as the league rely's more and more on outside shooting.
