Who will be the Young'un with the biggest impact this year?
Who will be the Young'un with the biggest impact this year?
Our roster overhaul has created opportunities for our young'uns. They will be expected to step up. They will be expected to step up and try and fill the shoes of Avery Bradley, Jae Crowder, Jonas Jerebko, Amir Johnson and Kelly Olynyk. Some of them have some NBA experience, Smart actually has quite a bit, and some have none at all. The need for them to step up, however, is unaffected by their experience levels or lack thereof.
Who is going to step up the most? Which young'un will make the biggest leap and have the biggest impact this year? Will it be Smart? Will it be Jaylen Brown? Will Jayson Tatum shock us by putting himself in the running for consideration of Sixth Man due to his torrid shooting off the bench? Will it be TRo, making us miss AB less? Semi Ojaleye, taking advantage of an injury to Morris to fill that role? Theis?
Avery Bradley had an absolutely AWFUL first year in the NBA, mostly due to him being intimidated from being on a team with the Big 3. Then, when he got his chance the next year, thanks to Ray's ankle, he blossomed. Who will blossom this year? Will it be a late bloomer like Smart, or even TRo, or will it be a dark horse like Tatum?
I'm including players like Theis and Larkin in the poll because, even though they are not 19-20 year olds, they are new to the NBA and Brad's system. You can, of course, choose not to choose them if you find that logic flawed.
Vote cancelling is allowed, so you can change your mind, but multiple choices are not. If you like more than one prospect, vote for the one you feel most strongly about and then write about the other and explain why you picked the one you voted for.

Re: Who will be the Young'un with the biggest impact this year?
I voted for Jaylen because I think that he will have the biggest impact. I think that is the general expectation, that he will have real impact, and may even become a starter. But I was tempted to vote for Guerschon. I think he will have a major impact on the offensive side of the ball. My hope is that he will pick up the defensive schemes quickly and be a pleasant surprise on that side of the ball. I know some think that he played no D in China and that, in fact, Chinese players can't even spell defense in Kanji. That is totally to be expected, however, since Kanji is Japanese transliteration of Chinese and not actually Chinese itself.

I voted for Jaylen.
He's already played significant playoff minutes last season. He's also at the forefront now that guys like Bradley and Crowder are gone.

I voted Smart.
he played almost 2400 minutes last year, with IT, Bradley and Rozier here also.
should get at least the same minutes this year as our defensive stopper and the "grit" leader of this years team.
I don't see anyone else on the list who will play more minutes, though I do expect Jaylen to be the 6th man and get minutes accordingly.
so for me Minutes = impact.

With so many new players on the roster - I think Marcus becomes the vocal leader of the Celtics this season. He wont score the most points or vastly improve his shooting. But he will be front and center keeping the defensive intensity flame burning and showing this new group what it looks like to be a Celtic.

I voted for Jalen Brown for two reasons.
Firstly, I believe he will get more minutes and with them, he will make a big leap on both ends.
Secondly, I do not consider Smart to be a young'un on this team. He is a young player, but he was included into the rotation in his first year. He never had the "deer in the headlights" look to him. The other young guys better listen to him when he speaks, or they will wish they had! Smart is a young veteran, IMO, so he should not have been included in this poll.

I also went with Brown.
Danny has enough confidence in Jaylen that he traded Bradley.
Rosier would be my second choice. Smart has been a major rotation player since day one so I did not consider his impact.
I think Brad will need to be patient and not yank him out of the game when he makes a misltake.
