International,

Glad you and your family are safe.

Now we have to worry about Worcester, Pete and TJ who live in the Tampa-to-Sarasota corridor and are in the path of Irma now.

Lots of our friends still in this storm's path as it moves north. W, Pete, TJ, dboss and possibly gyso too. Very happy to hear from International. Let us know you're safe when you can.

I'll probably live through this, but for how long will Florida be without electricity and all the modern conveniences THAT represents? A chance to count blessings.

We are as prepped as we can possibly be. I go back and forth from being confident, then nervous. I have (5) 25' Royal Palms behind the lania/pool area. Depending on wind direction, they could hit the house, or the lake behind me.

I had a feeling about this storm, well before labor day when it was called 93L off the coast of Africa. It wasn't so much the storm, as the pattern. If you remember Katrina, which was in the same general area of Harvey, shortly after that Fl. had a very active pattern.

So, on Saturday, Labor Day Weekend, we bought a large generator. I went back to the Lowes the next day, and they were all gone. I was extremely lucky that a friend of mine's father was a retired electrician and wired it up to my main house panel the following Tuesday. My house is concrete block, built in 2000, well after the new codes developed after Andrew in 92, and we are not in an evacuation zone. If my roof and windows hold, we should be ok, if not, I am hoping that the damage is minimal.

So good to hear that Pete. What a beautiful home you have. You will be safe, as will I. My office is in the big rock solid medical complex across from Michael's on East. I slept on a treatment table last night.

Does Irma mean you won't be playing at O'Leary's today?

International, where in PR do you live?

My sister lives just outside Arecibo , they moved their last year, They also were pleasantly surprised at how little damage was in their area, looks like being south of the storm was good for the whole island.
