According to the textbooks, for millions of years, vast herds of buffalo roamed the great prairie of North America, depositing billions of tons of buffalo dung. Apparently, it's still there, in South Dakota anyway, and some of the droppings have found their way onto this board.
Megan, could you hand me a towel?

Re: What do you say now SDCeltic?
Hey guys, I really hate to see a loyal, long-time Celtics fanatic branded as something he isn't...even by inference.
SD cares deeply about this team. I'm not a predictor by choice, but I'm betting he's among the happiest people in his state today because the Celtics won this series and looked so good doing it.
Since the end of last year, SD has had justifiable concerns about the then-current performance of the team and its long-term implications. He has been far from alone in that respect. I freely admit to getting on him because I felt it was premature to have such concerns (for a variety of reasons). I feel very badly that he apparently interpreted my comments as suggesting no one on this board has the right to speak ill of this team.
That, of course, was far from the fact. But I now apologize profusely and sincerely to him for even allowing it to get to the point where he could draw that conclusion.
SD doesn't need me to be speaking on his behalf because he always does a thoughtful and effective job of speaking for himself. But I feel compelled to register my feelings at this time because I think some very unfair stuff's going on. I understand the reasons, but (1) I happen to believe they're shortsighted and (2) I believe this is the time for all good Celtics fans to band together and bring this team home. And SD definitely qualifies as a "good Celtics fan."
Moreover, even if he wouldn't touch me with a ten foot pole right now, I'll always consider him a good friend. And an insightful and most enthusiastic Celtics fan.
Thanks for reading,
Sam

Completely agree. I love my kids like nothing else but there are times they just try my soul. If I didn't care it wouldn't matter and thats a lot like SD seems to be.
(side note Crash Sarah had an accident the other day) smashed the front bumper up pretty good, no one was hurt, but the car, still drivable but needs $1300 of work done so not bad. Trying to turn left out of Taco Bell on a busy 4 lane street..............and didn't quite make it!!
And Marcus is less than a year away from his permit!! Oh the humanity.
He's chucking tonight against a pretty good team, will be a reall good challenge for him but in all likelyhood our teams modest 2 game win streak will end!

Just as we were proud in our support of the Celtics when they struggled, we should be proud and honorable in our support when they are playing well. Few things backlash worse than gloating.

I realy don't think any of us are gloating. Did any see PP during the post game. He's already focusing for the next game and I'm sure it's that way thru the ranks. Sure winning against the best team record wise was nice but the goal is a championship and we got 8 wins to go.
We may not get there but I don't think it will be because lack of effort.

Beat, I'm so glad Sarah wasn't hurt. I hope she resumed driving a.s.a.p. with no fears just because of something that can happen to anyone. I've always viewed infractions and accidents of my own kids (as long as no one was hurt) as lessons that are expensive, but cheaper than college tuition.
Good luck to Marcus in his latest test.

Beat,
Just like your original post was not directed specifically at "whoever" mine was very generic too.
Let us be happy that the somewhat more negative souls very wrong and let us all - negative, positive and pollyanna - enjoy the great play of the Celtics so far in the Celtics
Today is a day of enjoyment of celebration but soon enough it is time to take on the Magic!

I am not questioning anything you said above....but show me ONE THREAD that SD has started after a big Celtics win? Show me one where he has given them their fair due?
You can say all you want about the guy - but his track record of showing up the day after losses - and disappearing after wins, speaks for itself. Sorry.

Re: What do you say now SDCeltic?
sd has been a big time Celtics supported.
He has pointed out some issues that were apparent to everyone. I too have been critical of the team yet I am as big a Celtics fan as anyone out there.
I did not fully appreciate the chemistry issue as it relates to injuries and not having the time to really play together. i did not know if KG would play this well because even near the end of the season he was still favoring his leg. As Boston made its way through the Heat series I gained more confidence that they were back on track. And after they dropped the winnable 1st game in Cleveland and came back to take game 2 I knew they were ready to compete.
Being a fan does not mean that you are right it only means that you care about your team and want to see them win.

Re: What do you say now SDCeltic?
Mrkleen,
What does starting a thread have to do with anything? The vast majority of my posts are not on threads I started. Does that somehow diminish my posts?
But, as long as you raised a challenge, here you go:
A thread started by SD entitled, "Rondo Plays One of the Best Games in Playoff History" and led of by an SD post that read as follows:
"Rajon Rondo just played one of the best, most complete games in NBA history. INCREDIBLE, AWESOME, UNBELIEVEABLE, FANTASTIC. I feel so thrilled to have seen such a performance. I was just flabbergasted that Rondo could make so many great decisions and plays. Will never forget this performance. Celts will continue to need great performances from Rondo. He's going to need more help from Garnett, Pierce, and Allen.
Bench played great today. Tony Allen needs to continue to get more playing time.
Go Celtics!!"
And I've commented elsewhere on very positive messages SD has posted after Celtics playoff wins.
Perhaps selectivity of observation is not limited to seeing only bad calls against the Celtics.
Glad to have been able to oblige.

Re: What do you say now SDCeltic?
Dboss,
I can't believe there's a person this board who hasn't shared negative thoughts about the Celtics at various points of the season. I was ready to ship Tony Allen out for a bag of peanuts earlier in the season. I was upset that Baby committed a stupid act that had a lot to do with compounding what I've consistently called a chemistry issue.
I believe one of SD's principal concerns (both for now and the future) involved the lack of youthful athleticism on the team. And, at the time, one had to assume he had a point. I'm sure many people still burn over the departure of Walker and Giddens.
Being a complete disbeliever in predictions, one of my gripes was what I felt was a premature conclusion about the likely fortunes of this team just because they were suffering from discontinuity beyond their control. And I also thought the discontinuity caused frustration that led to being dispirited. I believed (and still do) that some people were blaming the Celtics for a lack of energy at a time when any lack of energy was not the root of the problem but was, rather, an effect of discontinuity and being dispirited.
But I hope this board will always be open for criticism of the Celtics as well as enthusiasm of the Celtics. Just as important to me is the right of others to contest (civilly) either the substance or the timing of the criticism. But, as both a person and a moderator, I'm definitely taking a stand that people should not be toasted just because they have expressed criticism—especially when they have substantial track records as long-time Celtics enthusiasts and obvoiusly do not fall into the troll category.

I meant no ill will toward anyone,I shared some of the same concerns as SDCelticfan, his points in where he thought the direction of the team were headed was a compelling case and I had some very similar concerns myself.Just wanted to hear his views after a great series, thats all.

Re: What do you say now SDCeltic?
Good decision, Mrkleen. Especially since I already had a list of additionally positive SD posts prepared.
The most important thing is that we all join in a unified attempt to help will this team to two more series victories. I know you believe they can do it and have been one of their staunchest supporters through thick and thin. I'm quite certain SD falls into that camp, and I know I do.
Go Celtics!
