MY LeBron James trade rumor

OK, I was putting this in various threads and repeating myself, which I know is annoying ...so I figured I'd start a thread to get my but kicked in



I am the rumor monger i am afraid. Like I said I heard it form two sports talk guys yesterday , as asides. not as talking points at all.

I was just throwing it out there and I do think we will hear more of this.

on another thread I fleshed out how it could happen,

LeBron tells Cleveland he will opt out unless they agree to a trade to one of the teams he list for them, after realizing the only teams who can compete for a title and pay him are the Lakers, Philly and Cleveland. A trade offers LeBron a chance to move at a team ready to compete right now and at age 33 he knows his years are winding down. Rings are what he wants to try to get to Jordan's number.

he gets permission to talk and Ainge sees a way to take down GS and bring multiple rings back to Boston.

LeBron agree to opt in for next year at his $35M salary AND sign a two year extension for Boston after the trade.

Ainge Sends Hayward ($31M) and Morris ($5M) along with a couple later first round picks to Cleveland to make the deal.

Cleveland gets two starters to replace LeBron and kick start their rebuild, instead of nothing if he leaves as a FA.

Boston has the same cap room as today after the trade and we keep all our young players.

again all conjecture on my part right now. But don't think for a minute that Ainge wouldn't consider it, IF there is a chance.

With all due respect, why do you think that Danny is an idiot?
IMO, if Lebron comes to Boston it may ruin the whole team.
What do you think was the main reason KI wanted out of Cle?
Another possible conflict is Brad vs Lebron: we all know that Brad is not an "yes man" and doesn't want to be a pet a la Lue.
Also, why do we need aging Lebron when we have a young core that, by all indications, can beat GSW or Houston?

To be fair to KDP, on paper, the team he assembled would be a monster. The talent 1-5 is insane, and 1-10 is ridiculous. However, talent on basketball teams doesn't obey simple addition. Since there is only one ball and limited minutes, not all talent can be fully utilized. Also there is the chemistry question. And the fact the Kyrie and Lebron hate each other, regardless of what either says. On paper though, that team would be unbeatable, and I am sure the rumors will begin.

Lebron to the Celtics is not a good idea.

It's better if the Lakers get Lebron.

Lebron will be 34 years old this year.
That means he will only have 2-3 years left of playing at a high level.
Getting Lebron means the Lakers will try to win now and abort all plans of rebuilding.
After 2-3 years, Lakers will be back to where they are right now.

Right now the Lakers are in the "dark ages".
They have missed the playoffs 5 straight seasons.
This is the longest playoff drought in their franchise history.

The Celts on the other hand are just starting a new dynasty.
Guys like Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown will be part of multiple Celtic championships for the next 10 years.

So why add a guy like Lebron when the Celts are on the verge of dominating the league for many, many years to come.

Walker has to be somewhat controversial with his commentary. If he doesn't, no one will pay attention to him and he loses his position. He needs to work because he wasted all his money from his playing years and is broke. I expect more nonsense from him going forward.

Toine mad a lot of mistakes financially and some that effected the quality of his career. I give him credit for not hiding and/or lying about his situation. he admitted he made mistakes, even went into detail about it and spoke in seminars and on radio about the mistakes he’s made and what players can and should do to prevent same from happening to them. He got in front of it and told the truth and I respect that.
People that want to berate him, call him names and discredit him instead of perhaps disagreeing but respecting his opinion are some of the same folks who loved him when he scored points, got rebounds and helped win games.
It’s terrible how folks can turn on others who have fallen on hard times and can no longer contribute to their joy.
In my opinion These folks are not true Celtics fans.

Not me, as if I am surprising anyone here!!

There are very few things that could put into question my nearly 50 years of love for the Celtics. Signing Lebron would be one of them. F&CK THAT GUY.

I actually am rooting for LeBron to win a ring this year. Why? Because it would keep him in Cleveland next season, when the Cavs would be easier pickings for us as we march on to #18. I do not want to see him in Philly.

Don't forget the Cavs have the 2018 Brooklyn pick.
It's the #8 pick this year.

The Cavs can use that #8 pick, in a trade, to add another star player, making the Cavs better next year.

I don't think that Lebron and Simmons is a good match. They'll fight for the ball and if 2 players on the same team fight their opponent wins.
Also, IMHO, there's no team in EC, with Lebron or without, that can beat Celtics next year (barring injuries to our key players, of course).
Also, I wholeheartedly agree with Mrkleen's sentiment...

I too would secede from Celtics nation were we to sign LeBron. I'd rather root for the USA Women's Curling team instead. Those gals were very cool in the Olympics.
