Love it, a lottery pick in 21 right when 2 J’s are hitting their peaks and will still be realatively young....way to go Danny!! We don’t even need that pick immediately this year or next year, we’re gonna be rolling, kicking ass.

Kyrie too, although I think next season he will be spectacular.

There is never anything random about the way Danny stockpiles assets.
Danny built a great team and won the 2008 title. That was a fun but relatively short term period of glory.
When Boston barely played over .500 during the 2012-2013 and lost in 6 games of the 1st round to the (gulp) Knicks, Danny knew that it was time for a rebuild. From 2008 to 2012 they had no CAP space to add a young stud and they were not able to use the draft to maintain their compeitive position. When you are a good team you rarely get an opportunity to draft in the lottery.
2008 Giddeons #30
2009 None
2010 Avery Bradley #19
2011 JaJohn Johnson 27
2012 Sully #21 Fab Melo #22
Of that group only AB proved to be a worthy addition.
The rebuild began by moving PP and KG for 3 first round picks. It will go down in history as one of the most lopsided trades ever.
That was the big trade but there were so many other trades made that incrementally upgraded the roster and added more draft picks.
Danny has hit home runs with all 3 of the Nets picks. And During the dog days when the Celtics had some bad contracts on the books, it was all part of Danny's master plan to become a player in free agency.
The Memphis pick is one of multiple examples of why Danny Ainge is simply the best among his peers.
To be able to keep winning by remaining competitive is a rare accomplishment when you find yourself in the midst of a full blown rebuilding project.
The balance that Danny has exhibited by using all available strategies to rebuild this team in 5 years is quite remarkable (draft, trades and free agency) the deals that he did not make are as important as the ones he did make.
While teams gut themselves reaching for success or leverage their assets by pushing all of their chips to the center of the table, Danny has maintained complete command of the situations he finds himself in.

Who were the 3 Nets pick home runs? Jaylen, Jayson, and who? Kyrie via trade and also the Sacto pick via trade. Four players, really. Quite amazing.

Worcester, the 1st Nets pick, in 2014, wasn't exactly a home run. It was more like a reached on a fielders choice. That pick was no. 17 in the draft. Kentucky Wildcat SG/SF James Young. As Meatloaf once sang, 2 out of 3 ain't bad!

Willjr, I totally forgot about James Young, as we all should. Thanks for the memo.
