High Scoring Teams On The Increase
While it may be way to early to make any determination, the first round of games has produced a lot of high scoring matchups.
14 teams are putting up 110+ points.
Boston is #22 at 105 PPG
The trend is to forget all about defense. Just concentrate on outscoring your opponent.
A team like Boston has an opportunity to be tops in defense. I expect their offense will pick up as well.

Main reason for that is teams are now shooting more 3s.

Based on a very small sample size the pace of the game has picked up from 86.1 FGA to 91.1
3PFGA is up to 31.8. last year it was at 29 per game per team. Accuracy is down slightly from .362 to .359.
So I think a combination of weak defenses, 5 more FGA per game and more 3 point shots per game has driven scoring averages up. There may be other factors as well but I would have to dig into them to see.
It seems most teams are playing the same way now. High Octane offense is the preferred style.
