The play when Marcus Morris got upset with Jaylen Brown for being late getting back on defense. (h/t @Celticsinsider7) #Celtics

MY NOTE: Brown hung his head after getting blocked and dogged it up court.

Morris and Williams played well in this game. The play though from Rozier, Hayward and Horford was horrendous. Brown may not have been good in this game but there was much worse play and more laziness from others (Smart!) out there the other day.

Your question raises another question by me. Are you trying to snare me into a debate about other players not putting out game in and game out?
The incident that occurred was between 2 players, and the reporting never went beyond them and talked about other players. So my focused response was about the player in that altercation that was not busting his butt, namely Brown. How you took a quantum leap to believe that I think others are not, bewilders me.
You want to create a separate debate, no one is stopping you, create another debate on this topic thread and I will respond if note worthy.

We have posted here that Brown is not playing lock down defense at times and his shooting is like a yoyo- up and down. He just may like the hotter weather in New Orleans.

So what player on this roster does it every night, Kyrie, Tatum, GH, Al....guess he’s the only player?

All this chatter happened because there was a play were one guy did not get back on defense and another guy took exception to it. However Morris should never have shoved Jaylen. That is worse than Jaylen not getting back into play. We have seen players having words with each other on the court and on the bench but physical contact with a teammate was both unnecesary and unprofessional.

Morris has gotten beat down the court as much as anybody here, seemed to me you were singling out Jaylen and even used the word yo-yo, so I was just pointing out big picture everyone on this team has had ups and downs, that’s all.

Cowan,
Yo yo was based on his scoring record, but at times he plays lackadaisical defense, and too often showboats when he does a monster dunk and punks on the defender which has often cost us a penalty and foul shot. That shxt is amateur crap unless you are a true superstar and back it up every night!

I have to agree with you. Miami beat the living snot out of Boston. Collectively the team sucked. I watched the game again and every player on this team missed defensive assignments.
If I was Brad I would have fined Morris.

He’s not the finished product yet, but he still covers the best offensive SF for a reason. I love his monster dunks over Giannis, Gobert, Embid, etc....I’ll take the good over the bad. I was watching game vs Mavs very closely, he was easily our best defender on Doncic, still has huge upside. Relax

IMHO a veteran should KNOW better and the younger player never acted aggressively after getting shoved first, he was not a hothead, but the vet was....that’s why I referred to Morris as a punk.

Re: Morris and Brown Altercation During Timeout?
This news cycle has Brad and Danny having to answer questions about the incident.
To their credit they have downplayed the whole thing but it is not a good thing to put these guys in that situation. They both have enough on their plate just trying to make this team better.
I am sure it will blow over as guys move forward.

Ya Cowan,
And he sucked defensively in many other games this year, and we are not even talking about his yo yo offensive game. Hey he is in his 3rd year which should be his breakout year............still looking for the breakout!

Wonder if his yo-yo playing time has anything to do with it?
You act like he’s the only guy underperforming....

On point!bobheckler wrote:As far as the Jaylen/Morris incident goes I don't see it having any legs. Game time frustration from losing to a team we should have beat. That's supposed to bother you. My problem is with the bigger issue of Jaylen Brown and Terry Rozier just not playing as hard this year, coming off the bench, as they did last year as starters. I think it's immaturity, letting their egos and personal ambitions undermine their 'tudes, but right or wrong they are clearly "off". Say one thing about Marcus Morris Sr., he didn't care if he came off the bench, he was the one who coined the nickname "BWA" (Bench With Attitude), or if he starts. He's playing hard all the time. He's bringing whatever he's got. He might have a good game, he might not, but he's going at 100%, all the time while he's on the court. Can we say the same thing about Jaylen Brown and Terry Rozier this year? This dustup is just a symptom of the underlying problem, it's not the problem.

I do not know if this is a trend but during December Jaylen. Shot the 3 ball at 34%. In 6 games this year he is shooting .385 % and 51% from the field. Brad Stevens said that Jaylen has been playing great. There is no time certain when young guys are developing. He got off to a very slow start but from what I am seeing he is back on track.

Every player missing assignments does not minimize Jaylens not getting back and what happened there. It’s like forgiving R Kelly because Woody Allen did it too.

This thread was more about the shove, are we gonna start a thread for everytime someone doesn’t get back?

That’s what led to the shove. I guess.
