Danny Ainge is healthy and ready to take on what should be an active offseason for the Celtics.
Ainge suffered a mild heart attack on April 30. Though the C's president of basketball operations hasn't yet spoken publicly on the matter, his son and director of player personnel Austin Ainge shared an encouraging update on his father.
“He’s back at it,” Ainge told Adam Himmelsbach of The Boston Globe. “He’s doing great. He’s been texting me 100 times a day. He loves his job, and he wants to continue doing it.”
Danny Ainge, who turned 60 in March, also suffered a heart attack in 2009. That made this recent incident even more of a cause for concern, but Austin believes this time doctors solved the issue.
“It was scary in the moment, for sure,” Austin Ainge said. “But the doctors found the problem and fixed it, and he feels great moving forward. It’s one of those things that’s very scary in the moment, but he’s healthier now than he was a month ago, so that’s all positive.”
Fantastic news all around.
As Ainge puts the setback behind him, he and the Celtics have some work to do with both the NBA Draft and free agency approaching. Boston's focus will be on its three first-round draft picks, Kyrie Irving's future, and the pursuit of Pelicans superstar Anthony Davis.

Danny Ainge, recovering from a mild heart attack, was on hand for today's John Havlicek memorial service, and according to Celtics co-owner Steve Pagliuca has switched to "a plant-based diet."
