If KD tore his Achilles, which it sure looks that way, that changes everything this summer. He may just pick up his $31.5M player option for 2019-20 and miss all of next season. The Warriors owe him that and so much more.

MY NOTE: IF this is true and KD tore an Achilles, then the prospect of him joining Kyrie in NY becomes more problematic. He will be 31 in September, coming off an Achilles.
And if KD stays in GSW will Kyrie rethink going to NY and be on an even worse team than the ine he would be leaving? This injury, IF it is an Achilles, could have a significant ripple effect.

Durant should opt in and stay with the warriors. KI will have a difficult choice now.
As for Myers, GS, and their medical staff, eff them for playing injured players. Durant and Looney had no business being on the floor.

Kyle,
McHale played on a broken foot and was never the same. Even today he walks with a pronounced limp. It's the Finals. Suck it up, Buttercup.

No. The med staff has a responsibility to take that choice from the coaching staff and players. They failed and now there will be long term consequences. That’s not ok and it has nothing to do with toughness of players.

Lombardi said it best...Winning isn't everything....It's the ONLY thing!
When you have to use words/phrases to cover up your actions like "collaborative effort" to determine KD's ability to play, you might have a problem. It initially looks like the two injuries are in the same neighborhood but not related.
But we're back to G3 & G4 now. Nothing has changed except KD has NO chance of coming through that door now for G6. Second verse same as the first. Two great, highly contrasting story lines, though.

We don't know if the calf and Achilles injuries were related or if he even has an Achilles tear. My question: Had he been taking Cipro recently, a prime culprit in Achilles' tears?
Re: Kevin Durant Tears His Achilles?
True. Just speculating. MRI will tell all today.

That may be true but the achilles tendon is connected to the calf muscle. It’d be a remarkable coincidence if the calf strain and torn achilles weren’t related injuries.

Let's get a final diagnosis before speculating.

For his sake, hopefully not a tear. That puts him out of action for the next season.

Tough injury for any athlete. Hope he can make a recovery.
If the blame ends up being placed on the Warriors medical staff they should all be fired immediately.

Re: Kevin Durant Tears His Achilles?
“Finals” is right in more ways then one. Subtly or unsubtly forcing players to play with a chest contusion and a seriously injured bad wheel in my opinion is unethical. Most athletes want to compete. Some want to prove that they’re not buttercups. Very heroic but not very smart. (Poor IT wasn’t forced but look what happened with him). Meyers can save the crocodile tears. KD (no minute restrictions after being off a month with that injury?) was in a no-win situation and the team knew it. It looks bad to me.bobheckler wrote:KyleCleric wrote:Durant should opt in and stay with the warriors. KI will have a difficult choice now.
