This was a mutual decision from what I have been hearing the last couple of hours.

the early 2nd round pick won't count against the cap until they sign. That deal cleared a lot of cap space.

The Celtics, who obtained the N0. 24 selection from the Sixers earlier tonight, have traded the pick to the Suns, who have drafted Virginia point guard Ty Jerome (per Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN). The Celtics also included big man Aron Baynes in the deal, tweets Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium

According to Adam Himmelsbach of The Boston Globe, Boston received a future draft pick from Phoenix in exchange for the rights to draft Jerome, and both Woj and Tim Bontemps of ESPN (link) report that the Suns are sending the Celtics the Bucks’ 2020 first-round pick. All told, the Suns will obtain both Baynes and Jerome, while the Celtics, who were said to be looking to move on from Baynes, pick up a first-rounder in next year’s draft.

We just traded away a big and a point for the Bucks top pick in 2020.

Of course that Bucks pick is sure to be valuable.

They must have some idea of a couple of vets they can sign.

That would be the only explanation for this draft.

It looks like they're drafting for the bench, and ignoring the front line.

Has to be something coming in the FA market.

What is entertaining is the annual dose of reality.

Several players the mocks had going as high as the lottery will in fact be 2nd rounders.

At least, even if we can't predict the Celtics moves, we have the reassurance of knowing the mocks will get it wrong too.
