Yes, absolutely he can still bang and board at a very high level, if we can get him on the cheap do it.

Nope. Cant defend. Cant shoot past 15 feet. Cant make FTs.

The only thing he is good at is rebounding, and the Celtics are 12th in the league at this point. No thanks.

The Cavs can move TT a lot easier than Love because his 18.5 million dollar contract expires.

The Cavs are in a rebuilding mode and need assets like young players and draft picks.

Some team with cap space is likely to go after him. Boston would have to move a guy like Smart to make a deal. That is not going to happen. Then after this year you have to make a decision to keep him.

Dboss,

It'd be tough to do, but not impossible because of the Trade Exception. That would give Cleveland up to 12 months to use the difference between the aggregated salaries in a trade for someone else from another team. Taking on a big salary from another team at the trade deadline on February 6th as teams try to shed long-term contracts for flexibility int he off-season, for example.

Unfortunately the NBA Trade Machine won't let you apply a trade exception to see a trade will work.

I think Portland makes the most sense for a Love trade. Let him finish back home.

a trade of

Love and Sexton

for
McCollum and Z. Collins

works salary wise and I think works for both teams also.

Portland is one of the highest salary teams and needs to at least have a chance for a deep playoff run.

they'd have a likely lineup of

Whiteside (Nurkic when he retuns)
Love
Melo - who has played great for them early
Sexton
Lilliard

Simmons, Bazemore, Hezonga, the old vet Tolliver and even the rookie Little provide bench help.

Cleveland get out from under Loves deal and gets two younger players in fact Cleveland would likely have to send a draft pick to Portland to make that deal happen.
