Marcus Smart is 12th All-Time in Boston Celtics Franchise History in Steals, with 559. He is only 2 away from tying Jo Jo White (562) for 11th.
Here's the whole list:
1. Paul Pierce - 1583
2. Larry Bird - 1556
3. Rajon Rondo - 990
4. Robert Parish - 873
5. Antoine Walker - 828
6. Dee Brown - 675
7. Danny Ainge - 671
8. Dennis Johnson - 654
9. Dave Cowens - 569
10. Reggie Lewis - 569
11. Jo Joe White - 562
12. Marcus Smart - 559

MY NOTE: Smart will finish this season no lower than #9. After next season he'll be 6th. Pretty impressive considering how young he still is. He will be 26 in 2 months.

He's missing his competition that played prior to the early 70s.

Dee Brown accumulated his steals in 8 seasons. He was from Jacksonville. BTW, he turned into quite a good three point shooter.

I have a feeling Tatum and Brown are going to be joining this list in a few seasons, as we all know they are just getting started....

worcester,
This is Smart's 6th year. He should pass Dee Brown in his 7th.

Cow,
Jayson Tatum (through 2 1/3 years) - 210 steals
Marcus Smart (through 3 full years) - 315 steals
Jaylen Brown (through 3 1/3 years) - 204
Marcus Smart (through 4 full years) - 386
Jayson's steals/minute have increased, he is now up to 1.5/36mpg, after averaging 1.2/36 in his 1st 2 years.
Jaylen's steals/minute has been pretty steady, between 1.2-1.3/36mpg.
Smart's steals/minute have never been below 1.6/36mpg and has been as high as 2.3/36. In his 4th year, if you remember, he missed a lot of games because of that stupid thing he did punching the mirror. That's why he only added 71 steals in his 4th year. He only played 54 games that year, the fewest minutes of his career.
Both Js would have to seriously ramp up their efficiency in this category to be where Smart is today, but especially Jaylen.
