Marcus's team wins the Babe Ruth Championship!

This past weekend we won. Kid pitched his heart out. Played 3 games in 2 days, won them all 10-2, 10-6 (2 extra innings) and 10-7 in the championship game. Rule is you can only pitch a total of 10 innings. Marcus pitched 3 innings in the first, 2 hits allowed 1 earned run 4 strikeouts and unfortuately 4 walks. We got out to an 8-1 lead and the coach took him out to save him.

Second game was a nail biter. Think your going to win then think your going to loose. Kid started got wild and Marcus came in in the 5th inning with one on and the score tied at 6. He shut them down but we could not score either. Finally put a 4 spot up in the top of the 9th and the lefty puts them down 1 2 3 with the final out a strike out. Pitched 5 innings 0 runs4 hits ) walks and 6 strike outs.

In the championship game he had only 2 innings left and pitched the 6th and 7th innings keeping our lead at 3. allowed only 2 hits and struck out 2.

For the 3 games total he was 8 for 11 at the plate, 7 RBI's, 3 runs scored.

Threw too many pitches too but you would have had to drag him off that mound.

Hit the ball hard almost every time up.

After the first inning, he walked only 1 the next 9 innings he pitched.

This was taken just after the final out in the extra inning game!

Marcus is in the back row 2 from the right.
San Diego hat on (for MG) not really, his team hat was a bit snug and the spot on his forehead was still tender. This hat was a little bigger.
The kid in the front shaved his chest to form a 1 !

Marcus has never been on a championship team before. He wanted this so bad. Now in the space of 2 weeks BOTH his teams have won their leagues! Time for us to go watch a few games and rest the arm! Been going since mid March. Already getting asked about playing on some good teams next summer.

Really nice to see this team compete after his school team hit some speed bumps.

His Varsity coach would kill him. He threw over 150 pitches over the 3 games in 2 days. 97 on Sunday alone. Another dad said though, with his mechanics being so good and that he doesn't throw hard stuff much he can pitch more. His off speed pitch basically won the second game.

I actually watched from behind home plate up in the stands. He has gotten so much better it is a bit scary. He is so smooth with his delivery. The next few years will be interesting fo sure.

He was the winning pitcher in the first 2 games too. Which I failed to mention.

Great stuff! Some great pitching and hitting under real pressure. This was break-out stuff. Congratulations, Marcus and family.

A kid in the Babe Ruth League, playing with 15 year olds like Marcus, had enough chest hair to manscape a "1" out of his chest hair? Bit of a ringer, isn't he? He doesn't look Dominican...

Congrats to the MVP (anybody who wins two or more games in a series is the MVP).

The kid in question just made it as of age, as he turned 16 shortly after the birthday cut off.

Marcus shaves everyday too..........................though he could get by with oncea week or so. Got him his own Gillette razor blade for Christmas last year so he doesn't dull mine!!

Please give my congratulations to Marcus on his big win! What a thrill for a kid to have. This will be one of many memories for him. What a great kid!!
