Pre-Game Hawks - Take 3
No rest for the weary. Now the slide is gaining momentum...great. More winning atop the East last night. We're the only one losing. The Knicks did not cooperate and this kept us in 6th place temporarily. We are getting to wave at all the teams passing us on this ride down and out of the playoffs.
Paging Mr. Ainge. Bueller? Bueller? Anyone?
To complete the set, it's now time for Boston to go ahead and lose both games of a B2B. ATL can and will take care of this task for us tonight.
These games are getting hard to watch. Not because they are losing, but how they are losing. It's so far from Celtic basketball I have to adjust my TV to make sure I saw what I just saw. We have the makings of a 2008 Big Three or an 80's Big Three yet I'm stupefied, Marcus Smart present or not.
We as super fans on this site are really left in a position of helplessness, slowly watching this team implode upon itself. Marcus Smart coming back is not going to save us. Another two weeks of this and we'll be in 12th place and pretty much out of everything.
Danny has done his obligatory mea culpa saying, "I'm responsible for this by not putting the best team on the floor" and then going back into hiding, which has become the custom of those who currently use this phraseology to temporarily get people off their effing backs when the heat is turned up instead of standing up and taking charge. Real leaders who used to say these words meant action is coming very shortly if not immediately, not continued withering and hiding. Again the longer he waits to do something, the bigger the splash will and has to be, which more than likely means bye-bye to one of the J's. If he waits too long, he will probably get a pink slip as well.
Not even going to look up the line today. ATL will win. Book it. Mortgage the house against it. Easy money. We think things are bad? The hemorrhaging has not even come close to being over. Anyone see a silver lining this morning? I'm looking but not trying very hard as you can probably tell. I'm the eternal optimist. My only hope is we bottom out sooner rather than and begin on the road to recovery to salvage what was supposed to be a great season.

Question, Can Danny firer himself!
LOL
However, ownership needs to get more involved and start squeezing Danny a little bit to make him feel uncomfortable.

Let’s see if Brad can figure out a way to shutdown Trae Young, hope I’m surprised, but the way we’ve been playing and the way Brads been coaching, not confident he’s going to come up with anything. Kemba’s not playing anyway, I’d start Nesmith, who’s defense is coming on like gangbusters, and put him on Young at the start....

I'm sure that the Boston Celtics owner - management dynamic is just fine, why turn it hostile? IMO, Danny already includes people above and below his pay grade in the decision making process. Danny is not a monolith working in a vacuum. Thinking that Danny is an island makes it easier to point the "blame" at something, anything, but it becomes tiresome when presented ad nauseam.
Just my opinion.

Did you write “I’m the eternal optimist” with tongue in cheek? :>)dbrown4 wrote:No rest for the weary. Now the slide is gaining momentum...great. More winning atop the East last night. Re: Pre-Game Hawks - Take 3
GYSO,
First I do not think Danny speaks to personnel below his title unless it is a scout needing specific information on a player. As far as management goes, it depends on what topics Danny speaks to management on. Does he give management a weekly up date on the state of the Celtics and trade options, or does it get more granular to where he brings management in on specific trades and provides the pro's and con's on a deal? To an extent he may, but not on that level where management needs to OK's a deal unless it it soooo major he has to.
However, management needs to press Danny regarding this slide that is due in large part on the pieces he assembled this year for what......to make a run at #18? Not a snowballs chance in hell.

Re: Pre-Game Hawks - Take 3
So... I must admit after the last 2 games I am booking every single game as:
Play boring me ball with some flashes from JB and JT
Play random off and on defense
Breakdown in 4Q
Lose in a soul crushing manner
So it is safe to say I am not going to watch the tape on this one and I expect another L in the column. I would say it does not matter as the season for a fanbase that has the "win all or fail" mentality is already over, but I think there is much more at stake with the development of our 2 stars in the wrong direction under current management, coaching, support cast conditions.
