Which twelve-time NBA All-Star and one time MVP came up short in the 1954 Indiana state basketball semifinals, his team losing to eventual state champion Hickory, I mean, Milan?

As any fan of basketball movies knows, the film Hoosiers was based on little Milan's fabulous season. There was no mention in the film of the subject of this quiz, who was a sophomore at the time. His team would lose only one more game before he graduated and would win the state title back to back the next two years.

What is it about Indiana and basketball? I'd like to see a list of basketball players from Indiana. Who would be at the top, Larry or Oscar? Both Jerry West and John Havlicek said Oscar Robertson was the best guard ever. Pretty decent bona fides, you might say. Then again, how many rings did he win?

No I'm not a Hoser but I have been a college basketball junkie since 1946 and since I knew that Robertson went to High School at Cripus Attucks High in Indianapolis during that time frame it was easy to make the connection. By the way, I have watched the movie 3 or 4 times. Great movie. Having watched the Tech Tourney at the old Boston Garden back in the late 40's and the 50's I am fully aware of the spirit and screaming of 13,909 youthfull fans. Its one of my favorite memories.
