The Celtics are adding some more competition for their bench in training camp this month just days after acquiring Juancho Hernangomez. after agreeing to a one-year non-guaranteed contract with former Jazz forward Juwan Morgan on Wednesday, according to a league source. Michael Scotto of Hoopshype was first to report the signing.
Morgan, 24, went undrafted in 2019 after four years at Indiana where he played alongside current Celtic Romeo Langford for one more season. He signed an Exhibit 10 deal with the Utah Jazz in 2019 and played 50 games for the team over the past two seasons, primarily as a defensive specialist. Overall, he averaged just 1.5 PPG and 1.1 RPG over just 5.6 minutes per contest. He did shoot 51 percent from the field but is not a reliable threat from 3-point range.
The 6-foot-7 combo forward also split time between Utah and the team’s G-League affiliate (Salt Lake City Stars) back in 2020, averaging 14.3 PPG and 7.7 RPG for them during the 2019-20 G-League season. He spent two games playing for the Jazz Summer League team in Las Vegas last month but the team did not make him a qualifying offer, freeing up to sign with any team in free agency.
The signing gives the Celtics now 17 of a possible 20 max players under contract heading into the team’s training camp in three weeks. Morgan should compete with another forward in Jabari Parker for the final spot on the 15-man roster in camp. However, Morgan is also still eligible for a two-way deal for one more seasons so the team could agree to a deal with him for that spot if the two sides want to continue their pact beyond training camp.
Here’s an updated look at the team’s current depth chart heading into the 2021-22 season. Boston will need to cut down the roster to 15 roster players and a pair of two-way contracts before opening night.
The Depth Chart (16 players including two-way deals)
Guards: Smart, Schroder, Richardson, Pritchard, Langford
Wings/Forwards: Tatum, Brown, Nesmith, Hernangomez, G. Williams, Parker, Hauser (two-way), Morgan
Bigs: R. Williams, Horford, Kanter, Fernando
Bob
MY NOTE: 24 years old. 6'7", 232#, 7'0" wingspan. Averaged 5.1mpg last year with Utah, a total of 147 minutes played. He's a 31% 3pt fg% shooter, an average rebounder and shot 43% from the line last year (7 ftas, 7 trips to the line in 147 minutes). I don't see the attraction, other than his wingspan. I suppose he'll help crystallize Brad's opinion of Jabari Parker. If Parker can't shine against Morgan then that's pretty poor.

The Celtics have agreed to an Exhibit 10 deal with Luke Kornet, per sources. He’ll participate in training camp with Boston later this month, joining Juwan Morgan as the latest frontcourt additions.
Bob
MY NOTE: What a comedown for Luke. He was an NBA player, on this team, and now he's a camp invite. His problem is that we're full up on 5s and I've seen zero evidence he can play 4. He lacks the mobility, for one thing. I also don't remember him ever taking a mid-range shot. I realize mid-range shots are out of vogue now thanks to "advanced metrics" but if you want to play 4 you have to be able to take bigger defenders off the dribble on switches and do a pull up J if necessary, and Luke Kornet is a stiff.

You like using initials a little too much for me. You’re either a fugitive or in a witness protection program. I’m running a background check on you DMT! LOL

Re: Celtics sign Juwan Morgan to training camp deal, combo forward could be a candidate for two-way contract
Bob, I think there is very little evidence Luke can even play the 5.
Dboss, your DMT initials come to me the very day I was reaching the possibility of endogenous DMT production.
We may very well be able to create consciousness-expanding, mind-altering, spiritual experiences on our own, without using such psychedelic drugs as DMT, especially if we can produce DMT in sufficient amounts internally, and the pineal gland may be the pathway to do just that. It's curious to note that rat brains explode in their production of DMT at the time of death. This has yet to be studied in humans.
Here's a link: https://entheonation.com/blog/dmt-pineal-gland/
Fluoride from drinking water and toothpaste can calcify the pineal gland. inhibiting its ability to make melatonin and other melatonin-like hormones (DMT is one of them). What this last link does not mention is that curcumin, if it can pass through the blood/brain barrier in a bio-soluble form, is a powerful agent for decalcifying the pineal gland. The article does talk about ways to activate the pineal gland naturally. I'm very drug averse.
