The Los Angeles Lakers and Boston Celtics were pretty much in the same boat when they entered this matchup. Both teams had lost their previous games, the Lakers holding an 8-8 record, while the Celtics had a 7-8 one. But another strange thing they did have in common was Dennis Schroder, a former Laker now playing for the Celtics.
Unfortunately for the purple and gold tonight, Schroder was on some sort of mission to hand the Lakers a loss. Despite the Lakers leading in the first quarter and starting out big, Dennis’ contribution to the scoreboard, along with that of Jayson Tatum’s, completely destroyed any hopes of the Lakers winning this one. And fans just had to react to his performance against his former team.
Dennis Schroder plays a major role in handing a defeat to the Lakers
Most fans have lost all hopes from the Lakers. They hardly look like a playoff-contending team, let alone fighting for the title. Without LeBron James on the roster, they went on a downward spiral, losing games that drastically moved them down the table in the Western Conference.
And with Bron finally back against the Boston Celtics, his presence only helped them lose the game with a little more dignity than they would have otherwise. Jayson Tatum’s 37 point performance, Marcus Smart’s 22 points, and Dennis Schroder‘s 21 points were more than enough to finish this game with a 130-108 win.
What makes Schroder’s stellar performance more fascinating is that he was traded for not stepping up to the expectations when he was part of the Lakers. And now, he’s the reason behind them losing another one of their games.
Other than James’ 23 points, Anthony Davis made the only valuable contribution of 31 points. Looking at this, Twitter blew up with reactions.

Will the purple and gold be able to get up?
LA’s losing streak has extended to three games now. And with the way the West is filled with the most elite teams, their chances of survival look bleak. However, now that LeBron James is back, he might be able to help pull them out of the mess that they have created.

But from here on, it’s vital for them to win as many games as possible if they want to at least secure a playoff berth and not disappoint their fans despite forming a so-called super team in the offseason. As they face the Detroit Pistons next, can they start afresh?
