The Moses Brown Life-or-Death Watch
Because my good friend (on and off the board) Cowens is suffering from clinically dangerous levels of FOMO regarding Moses Brown I thought we'd have some fun and keep track of his progress. Let's hope this doesn't drive him to a psychologist's couch. LOL.
Here's where he has been, and is, 24 games into his 3rd NBA season:
Per Game
Year................Team...................Games Played.......Games Started......mpg......ppg......rpg....apg.....TOpg.....blkspg

2021-2022.......Dal------------10-----------------1-----------121---------------------101----------------------+20
Keep in mind that his playing time in Years 1 and 3 are SO small that almost anything he does, good and bad, will have a tremendous effect on the average. Put another way, if Luka sits a few games, due to injury or they're blowouts, that he plays in the chances of his offensive rating dropping precipitously is very real since Luka's a big loss and Moses isn't going to help fill that hole much.

Re: The Moses Brown Life-or-Death Watch
The whole Moses Brown story reminds me of the Mikki Moore saga in 2009.
Brown appears to have been just a transitory piece in a bigger puzzle. I see him as the basketball equivalent to just another marshmallow shape in a bowl of Lucky Charms.
That fans saw any potential in him looks like a parallel to Moore. There was big fan celebration when Moore came to town for a brief stay in ‘09. A mere basketball drifter, the coming Celtic decline was already evident and a center was badly needed. For a couple of weeks Moore was going to be the next Chief and take the team to new heights. Of course the frenzy was out of fan desperation for their team to remain relevant. It’s understandable. It’s what we fans do.
Just my casual observation but Moses Brown = Mikki Moore. There was no sign I could see that this Moses was going to lead us out of the basketball desert,

I disagree when he gets time, he is productive, didn’t know anything about Mikki Moore, so doesn’t discern me. This kid had a string of productive dirty work games last season, getting 21 rebounds against our starting frontline. They are developing him behind the scenes and Cuban really wanted this kid, he is not a stiff. He is going to be the next Jared Allen.

Re: The Moses Brown Life-or-Death Watch
Look who had 15 points and 6 boards in 20 minutes last night on 5-6 from field in a win without Luka. This kid will be the starting center by all star game, as I noted many times, whenever he gets minutes he gets production. Heckler is going to be eating his words….

Cow, Kelly Olynyk can get better than 15 points and 6 boards on a regular basis, if he is given starter's minutes. Why can't we get players like that?

Time will tell if Moses is all that, I guess.

Re: The Moses Brown Life-or-Death Watch
2 games later (#26 of the season for Dallas), Moses is up to 76 minutes total.
He played 9 minutes vs Indy, a game Dallas lost, and he had 5 points and 1 rebound.
He also played 20 minutes in his "revenge game" vs OKC yesterday, a game Dallas won (vs a truly awful team) and Moses had 15 points, 6 rebounds and 2 blocks. Not bad but, as I said, OKC is a terrible team at 8-18. They have the 4th worst record in the league, only Detroit, Orlando and NOP are worse. They're 29th in fgm, 21st in fg% and 30th, dead last, in ppg. Defensively they are 18th in ppg given up. In other words, they suck. I would not, therefore, put much weight into Moses' production in that game. He was motivated against an undeniably inferior opponent.
Charlotte (15-13) is in Dallas tonight and the Lakers (15-13) are there on Wednesday. Let's see how many minutes, and how well he does, against a couple of teams with winning records. In particular, I'd like to see the Laker game. If Dallas ever needs him it would be against the big 3 of Davis, Howard and Jordan.

Cow, When I heard we’d landed Moses, I could almost see the promised land where everything is green every spring. After Fab and Tacko, finally a realistic prospect. Coupled with the human pogo stick, a couple of Js and the gift of Schröder, I liked our chances. Bob, I know the sample is small, but if he were in green, we’d be crowing. Fraid Cow is right. Incredible error. hawk

He’s not that good yet, but he’s working on his FT’s and whenever he gets minutes, he has excelled at rebounding.

Re: The Moses Brown Life-or-Death Watch
Moses has now played a total of 88 minutes this season in 14 games. Dallas has played 28 games so far, so he has been in half of them. 6.3mpg. 2.1rpg. A total of 29 rebounds all season.
Cut-and-pasted from above.
Year................Team...................Games Played.......Games Started......mpg......ppg......rpg....apg.....TOpg.....blkspg
2021-2022.......Dal----------------10-------------------1--------------------4.6-------2.4-----1.6----0.0----.4-------.4
UPDATE-----------------------------14-------------------1--------------------6.3-------3.4-----2.1----0.0----.4-------.4
So his numbers have come up some, but he has also increased his mpg. 37% more minutes should show at least 37% more stats.
I see what NYCelt is saying about Moses Brown and Mikki Moore but I think he'd be able to contribute more than Juancho, who has shown and done nothing.

Re: The Moses Brown Life-or-Death Watch
He’s raw, but 7’ 1” and likes to block shots, rebound, same as RW. I haven’t seen him much. My worry is that if RW goes out, we really have no one behind him to shut down the drive. Agree on Juancho; he looks lost. I like this team when healthy, and GW is much better than I’d hoped. I think the current roster can beat anyone, but as Sam would note, we’ll see in April. hawk

Re: The Moses Brown Life-or-Death Watch
So due to injuries Moses Brown got some minutes and had close to a double double vs Mavs and then a real double double the next night against Hawks.
Mavs 21 minutes 12 9 5-5 FG
Hawks 26 minutes 15 13 5-7 FG
47 minutes 27 points 22 rebounds 10-12 FG
Not too bad, he’s a level better than Kornet, this guy can actually score in the paint and rebound. When he gets minutes, he at least boards.

Re: The Moses Brown Life-or-Death Watch
I am 100 percent with Cowens on the desirability of having Moses Brown on the bench. 7’2’’, over 240, only 22, loves to block shots. To me, he is a Timelord insurance policy - something obviously needed. Right now, we have no backup center. When RW is in the game, he weakens the other team’s offense because the possibility of being blocked keeps them from driving nearly as much. MB has a similar effect, although he’s not as developed, or possibly as good. Like RW, his offensive game is limited, but he can jam the ball over almost anyone. All season I have thought this team was special, but would go only as far as RW could take us. With MB, I’d be hopeful still, because Tatum, Brown, Smart is an excellent core. (Sharply upwardly revised take on Smart since he stopped chucking 3s in desperation). Minus a center, hope is greatly reduced. hawk

Re: The Moses Brown Life-or-Death Watch
We should have signed him a few weeks ago when he was in limbo and anyone could, dumb move not resigning him with all these other no names filling the bench. He’s much better than Kornet at every level.

Re: The Moses Brown Life-or-Death Watch
He has played 9 games with Cleveland. He's only averaging 9mpg. That's actually almost 50% more than he averaged in Dallas.
Is he better than Kornet? Yeah, he is, but his 9mpg isn't making him look like he's that much of a loss. It'd be nice to have him now, with RWill out, but if you're hanging your hat on a player that has totaled about 260 minutes, TOTAL, for this entire year then that's your problem right there and Moses Brown isn't the solution.

Another double double, he’s lights better than Kornet and will be a productive starting center or rotation piece, I don’t care how many minutes he’s has played or what Heckler says….

3 double doubles in a row, had 16 and 13 today on an efficient 7-10, let me know when Kornet does that, even Theis and GWill rarely do a double double and this kid just did 3 in a row. Go root for your man crush, man bun the bruiser Kelly O!!!
