Jaylen Brown
I never realized what a terrible initiator Jaylen is. Been so painful watching him operate the last few games without Tatum, despite the win today, he was terrible. There’s obviously things he can do very well, but just like it was obvious Avery Bradley could not play point, it’s obvious to my eye test Jaylen is not a point forward….
There were so many times without even ball pressure he would throw the ball away into traffic. How many times has he gotten stripped dribbling into traffic? I would simplify the offense, let Jaylen be some version of Bernard King, get him the ball down low more, he’s never going to be a James Harden type initiator.

Re: Jaylen Brown
I am in no way saying we have to trade Jaylen, soon Tatum will be back and that will make Jaylen’s deficiencies not so glaring and open up the floor for him more. In other words, he will be much more effective, as our Robin who can sometimes outplay Batman. Jaylen is still a 2 way force and legit young all star, and somehow we just became the first EC team to beat the Suns this year. We can beat a Milwaukee and Phoenix, we should have beaten Golden State, and we can still get a lot more production from the youngins and better chemistry going forward. I guess we can play with anybody….

Re: Jaylen Brown
Compelling performance by JB tonight, saw the best and worst of him in the same game. He played with ferocity, attacking and carrying the shorthanded team, showing the talent and attributes that are as good as any wing in the game. Then there was this puzzling turnover display going on as he was the leading culprit on the team turning it over uncontrollably keeping an inferior team constantly in the game. Despite it all, Jaylen willed the team to victory with 21 points in the 4th, driving thru the whole team on a few occasions and the amount of energy he had to exert was what separates the Kobe’s from the Jason Richardson’s. Great super human effort, glad he will have 2 days off after tonight, someone buy that kid a beer or a super protein shake lol. Can’t wait to see Tatum get back soon and let’s get these 2 stars rolling!!!

Multi-dimensional guy.
You could say he's not wasting his platform from basketball on basketball.
This is the kind of player you want young fans to pay attention to, for many reasons.

Re: Jaylen Brown
If anyone wants to say that Jaylen Brown is not the absolute best player in the league or even not the best player on his own team, I guess that I cannot disagree.
However, he is certainly not the worst player on the Cs or in the NBA either.
BUT, from his very first year in Boston, he has been an excellent player who always hustles while continuing to improve as a player to the point that the many people who want to nit-pik his career as a player can search for little things (like his social concerns) to tear him down.
For me, he may be the most interesting young man that has worn a Celtics uniform in a long time and perhaps ever in that he seems to have a genuine interest in other human beings, represents the team in the many communities that he embraces and is a shining example of what so many other young athletes could be.
I hope that he remains a Celtic for the life of his NBA career and a Celtic legend forever. Lastly, unless traded away or he is dealt a serious injury his #7 will be on the banner where the other Cs great men/players are remembered with their numbers retired.

Nice post. I also hope to see him play for the Celtics for his entire career. Too often the really good players come with baggage. Not this young man, he seems to have his head on straight.

I marvel at the way he carries himself, game in and game out. There is no air of arrogance about him, just a fine young man who cares about the world and wants to improve it. He truly wants to see his teammates improve, loves seeing Tatum excel, and has found a great middle ground for he and Marcus to play together and accept each other's faults. I compare him to Russell only because he tries to make everyone around him better. We are fortunate in Boston, we have had some truly great players but better than that, terrific men. I love this kid for who he is, not what he does on the basketball court but what he is striving to accomplish in the world

Re: Jaylen Brown
In February he averaged 4.5 assists and had 5 assists on Sunday. When you see guys like him and Jayson working to improve aspects of their games that needed improvement, you cannot help but be appreciative.
I was happy to see both of them sitting together in the post game interview and it sent a clear message. Those guys want to do well and both guys support each other. they want to be in Boston together. The 'they cannot play together crowd' was just plan wrong. There is a big stability factor when you have drafted and developed your players. Home grown talent at this level is pretty special in today's NBA where teams tie their fortunes to someone else's misfortunes.

There is one this I am really waiting for. Jaylen has been injured, come back, had good games, but I feel there is a lot more coming from him. When that happens, watch out NBA. This team has found it’s identity and the sky may be the limit. I am not ready to say we are championship bound, but this team is a threat to any team out there. We could be the spoilers this year, wouldn’t that be fun????

Love Jaylen
Was at a bbq yesterday and a bunch of hoops fanatics I know were all discussing the Celtics and the Finals.
Some of the comments were the real MVP is Brad Stevens, putting that team together.
Jaylen is a stud and better than Tatum, I agreed with them and said I’ve been saying that a couple years now. They were saying Tatum shoots too many 3’s can drive, but doesn’t drive enough. I said Tatum doesn’t have the body to take it and dish it out like Brown. Jaylen plays with more ferocity and Tatum would put himself at risk if he drove into heart of defense like Jaylen.
They all love our top 6 and said it’s not fair to have so many great defensive players like that all so skilled on offense too. Love Jaylens work ethic, he could have been a Marcus Banks clone with an Andre Igoudala ceiling, but he has gotten himself so much better and better!!!

Certainly love Jaylen, but I think he and JT are both top 5 players. I think JT's rebounding and defense in the playoffs was vastly underrated. Jaylen's defense was right there in front of us and yes he was fantastic, but JT played some tough D and was tremendous on the boards. Let's not forget that JT led the team in scoring, rebounds and assists in the playoffs. His passing has improved so much. JT is a better playmaker than JB at this stage of their careers.
As Celtics fans we lucky to have both. Either can win a game for you and together the sky is the limit.

I would have taken JB OVER both Booker and Edwards.

Tell Edwards that, he has himself on such a high mountain it is ridiculous. Kid has won nothing but is patting himself on the back constantly. As far as Jayson Tatum is concerned, his game overall is fantastic. I said it all the way through the playoffs. He gave up parts of his game to improve his team, get all involved and was a major major reason why the Celtics won. I am a huge Jaylen fan, always have been but to disregard the importance of Jayson Tatum is a huge mistake. His defense alone was awesome

Re: Jaylen Brown
I am in London this week, and the ONLY NBA related merch I've seen so far has been one #0 Celtics tee shirt. So I am quite ok with that. JT is a champion and played like one all year. I love JB, but it's silly to debate who played better this year. They both played their roles to perfection. Hence #18. Thanks guys.

Agreed and it was smart to ride the 2 young guns thru all their growing pains, I didn’t mean to start anything, obviously I’m ecstatic where this team is right now with the 2 J’s. I had a lot of fun bantering/talking hoop at the bbq, even though it was hot as hell lol. This is a group we met thru our kids, who all played basketball together on the school teams since 3rd grade. Back to J’s it’s amazing Tatum led us in points rebounds and assists and I know he can still play alot better, as can Jaylen. Jaylen scored the bigger clutch points and made so many big plays both ends at clutch time. How different could our playoff run have looked if Jaylen doesn’t take over in the clutch both ends in game 1 vs Pacers? Some guys were saying he was like Kobe, he was so intense that playoff run. Whenever a play was needed, there was Jaylen making it so many times….and we got these 2 studs locked up a long time and they obviously pull for each other and love playing together. Relentless that was another word someone used describing our defense. It was a thing of beauty the way we shut down that supposedly great Mavs offense and all those loser pundits, let’s see how they do against a team battle tested with 2 HoFers that figured out how to play together and make everyone better…..yeah right!!!!

Re: Jaylen Brown
Jaylen Brown has had an interesting month
I don’t know if any NBA person has had as interesting a month as Celtics wing Jaylen Brown. The NBA Finals MVP has found himself in a bunch of headlines – some of it has been due to personal experiences he’s sharing with the world. Other parts involve conspiracy theories as to why he was left off Team USA for the Olympics. And his latest online controversy had to do with being caught on camera allegedly saying something negative about Bronny James.
Let’s go over the actual social timeline of the last month for JB:
June 17: Won his first championship and finals MVP.
June 21: Lost his “7uice” ring at the Celtics championship parade. The ring is an ode to Brown's sportswear company.
June 23: Hanging out with Anna Wintour, Vogue editor-in-chief, in Paris.
June 24: Attended a Red Sox game to celebrate the title with his teammates.
July 2: Got his “7uice” ring back from a fan who found it. Promised courtside seats to ring night.
July 10: Not selected over teammate Derrick White to Team USA as Kawhi Leonard's injury replacement. Here's Brown's reaction.
July 11: Tweeted, “I’m not afraid of you or your resources.” Many believe this is directed at Nike and the theory the company had a hand in keeping him off Team USA.
July 11: Received an ESPY for best championship performance.
July 15: Seen sitting courtside at NBA Summer League, supposedly saying on video, “I don’t think Bronny is a pro.”
July 16: Tweeted a response to the video, essentially confirming the lip-reading was correct.
He posted: “It’s a flex to have your son alongside you in the nba it reflects greatness and longevity! Bronny has all the tools around him to be successful I look forward to watching his growth.” When you break it down, Brown’s response to the Bronny moment is a hilarious non-apology.
After (apparently) saying Bronny isn’t an NBA player, Brown decided to praise LeBron James for his son getting into the league. If you want to be super cynical, he’s essentially calling Bronny a nepo baby, which is one of those buzzword terms flying around the internet these days. Bronny’s struggles in summer league coupled with the clickbait nature of his internet existence created the perfect storm for Brown to go viral here.
In three summer league games, Bronny has averaged 7.3 points in 25.1 minutes, is shooting just 30 percent overall and is 2 of 16 (12.5 percent) from 3-point range. Everything he does – good or bad – garners attention. And Brown no longer has the luxury of being anonymous enough to sit courtside and assume he doesn’t have a camera pointed at him. This is the territory of becoming a champ: You either have to own up to incendiary moments or start speaking into your shirt collar.
Bob
MY NOTE: Bronny IS a nepo baby. How else can you explain a #55 pick signing a multi-year NBA contract before his first game of Summer League? By signing Bronny to that contract Jeannie Buss all but admitted that Bronny doesn't have to prove anything (including why he wasn't picked in the 1st round by anybody, including Jeannie Buss. If another team picked Bronny in the first round they'd own his rights forever, LeBron or no LeBron), he's making the team. Period. What is the justification for that confidence if it has nothing to do with his prodigious father?

Celtics Star Jaylen Brown Hopes to Hook a Buyer for His Boston Penthouse
The veteran NBA player is seeking a new owner who is willing to pay $4.8 million for an industrial-style
residence in the Fort Point neighborhood.
Published on July 17, 2024

Always wanted to sit back and relax in a lofty abode offering picturesque views of South Boston‘s Seaport area—one with an expansive roof deck and easy access to an acclaimed steakhouse, for instance? Well, if you’ve got an extra $4.75 million lying around and are eager to spend it, this industrial-style residence in the Fort Point neighborhood might be the ideal spot to settle down in unique style.
Records show the condo was last purchased for $5.5 million in October 2021. Its current owner is Celtics star Jaylen Brown, who was named NBA Finals MVP in June after the team snagged its league-record 18th championship. Tailored to suit his personal needs, the corner unit lies on the top floor of the five-story Necco Landing building, which once served as a textile factory.
The kitchen features an eat-in island and high-end stainless appliances.
Surette Media Group
Billed in the listing as a “home for champions,” Brown’s loft features three bedrooms and a matching number of baths in nearly 3,000 square feet of living space adorned throughout with the original exposed brick walls, 12-foot-high wood-beam ceilings, and oversized teal-framed windows providing abundant natural light.
An open-plan great room holds a living and dining area displaying basketball memorabilia, a wine fridge, a billiard table, and arcade machines, while a sleekly designed kitchen is outfitted with open shelving, an eat-in island, and top-tier stainless appliances. A spacious primary suite boasts two walk-in closets and a bath equipped with dual vanities and a large shower, and elsewhere is an elevator-accessible entry foyer that has a spiral staircase leading up to a 400-square-foot roof deck sporting a fire pit.
The spacious roof deck comes complete with a fire-pit and city views.
Surette Media Group
The new owner will be required to pay a $1,842 monthly maintenance charge, which includes heat and air-conditioning, water, sewer, master insurance, and trash removal. There’s also a private resident’s entrance to the ground-floor Mooo…. Seaport restaurant.
Brown, who was drafted as the third overall pick by the Boston Celtics in 2016, agreed to a five-year, $304 million supermax contract extension in 2023, which ranks as the richest contract in NBA history. That means the three-time All-Star will earn an estimated average of $60.8 million per year during the life of the contract.
