SAN FRANCISCO -- Ime Udoka made a point of emphasis all season long that the Celtics would not be a team that complains to the officials too much. However, in the team’s biggest game of the year, the Celtics found themselves in several volatile situations with officials.
Boston was whistled for two technical fouls during the team’s 104-94 loss to the Warriors and found themselves in several heated discussions with officials throughout the 48 minutes.
“I think it was a little bit of that throughout the game,” Ime Udoka admitted. “So not necessarily only in the fourth. Probably something we shouldn’t do as much and we all did too much.”
Udoka was whistled for a technical foul at the end of the first quarter after Rob Williams was whistled for a foul with under a second remaining in the frame.
However, the Celtics head coach also was seen having a heated discussion with official Tony Brothers in the fourth quarter who was the target of many Boston complaints throughout Game 5.
“He didn’t like how I pointed at him,” Udoka said of the discussion.
Marcus Smart was also whistled for a technical foul with 9:16 remaining in the fourth quarter shortly after a Klay Thompson 3-point shot that Smart felt he pushed off on beforehand.
“Not our best moment,” Al Horford said of the complaints. “As you guys know, I feel like we’ve been able to fend those things off, especially throughout the Playoffs. For whatever reason tonight I feel like it got to us.”
With the Celtics facing elimination on Game 6 back in Boston, Horford wants to see better focus from his team in looking past what could deemed tough whistles.
“It’s one of those things that we kind of brought it back,” Horford said. “We were able to focus back in, but we can never let that (officiating) get to us. We can’t let that affect our game, the way that things are being played. We feel like we can control a lot of those things. It’s something that we have to move on from and be better on Thursday.”

this was a dreaded oficiating team. I am not saying that is the reason we lost the game, that was pretty obvious. But those two guys together on the floor during one of the most important games of the season was a show of force bu the NBA referee union and the NBA. Tony Brothers has bean antagonistic ref for years. he picked up where Joe Crawford left off. Jerks. both of them. Brothers would love to have started something
so......will we see scott foster next game?

I believe I saw where Scott Foster is on for next game. Isn't he the league's "Extend the Series Specialist"?

Tony Brothers is an incompetent showboat. Its one thing to be a good referee and try and get your shine on but when you suck as bad as Brothers, best you work on your craft. (Joey Crawford may have been a jerk but he knew how to referee a game)
The fact that Brothers is still blowing a whistle during the Finals game says a lot about this league.
The Ass Clown in stripes actually T’d up Udoka for being out of the Coaches Box? When the last time anyone’s done that in ANY game less alone a key playoff game. He T’d up Udoka but let the War criminal on the other side cuss and get in peoples faces. #23 actually followed Tatum to the bench!
I’m sorry I know this is basketball but we have a few players on the bench that are probably not going play any minutes this year. One of them needs to turn into Kevin McKale or Robert Parish and deck that savage and send him straight to Beth Israel. Our team should not allow him to harass anyone. Its time we started getting tough. Its bad enough that the refs have bitched us out. We cant allow the opponents War Criminal to operate with apparent impunity.
Crime stoppers Mount up!

NBA on Sirius XM announcers today pointed out there were three disastrously bad/incorrect/improper calls against Marcus during the game. No wonder he blew up. Still, we need to play more intelligently and with more discipline on offense. Sure hope we rebound (pun intended) next game.

Ktron,
Maybe that's the surprise the Celtics have up their sleeve Stephen A is fearful of and referring to that's going to change the direction of this series. Because if we see 2nd verse same as the 1st tonight, it's over. We'll lose the 4th game in Boston.
Remember, there is tape out there of GSW getting down by 56 points and eventually losing by 45...from just a few weeks ago!! And we're far better than that team will ever be, Ja Morant or not. However the Celtics are acting like the way Hollywood movies used to come down to TV in the old days. It took months before you could "get your hands on it" and see it on TV once it left the theaters. They're just sitting around waiting. Go get that GS vs. MEM footage just from that game and watch it 24/7 until the game starts! GS has done that to us!!! I don't know what game film the Celtics are watching. But they need to change the channel.
From my perspective, it doesn't appear anyone (in the Celtics organization top to bottom) has been trying to figure out GS's weaknesses to expose. The narrative has only been what can GS do to keep improving and what has Boston done to continually shoot themselves in the foot and eff up in this series.
I'm still on the Kingda Ka. 2 bad games. All fingers and indicators point to a Celtic victory tonight and on Sunday. A roller coaster has it's ups and downs. Has to be up now. Hang on!! The ride's not over!!

Wish I could blame it just on the officials.

DB, I forgot about that game that GS lost by a million points. Maybe they have too. We need to come out with the mindset that a 56 point lead in game 6 is not enough. Thy shall be no celebrating on our Gahden floor by the those savages from out Yonder by the Bay.dbrown4 wrote:Ktron,
