Re: Celtics 2022-2023 Regular Season Schedule
The first month to month-and-a-half are often the most precarious because of integration issues with new players, players not being the best playing shape coming to camp, etc.
Here's the first four weeks (29 days to be precise) of the regular season:
10/18 Philly
10/21 @ Miami
10/22 @ Orlando
10/24 @ Chicago
10/28 Cleveland
10/30 Washington
11/2 @ Cleveland
11/4 Chicago
11/5 @ Knicks
11/7 @ Memphis
11/9 Detroit
11/11 Denver
11/12 @ Detroit
11/14 OKC
11/16 @ Atlanta
15 games in 29 days.
7 home, 8 away.
3 b2b. One Away/Away, two Home/Away.
I believe 8 of these games will be against teams that made the playoffs last year.
Not a particularly difficult schedule, as far as competition goes, but the b2bs and two 2-3 game road trips this early will add a degree of difficulty.
The Celtics have a total of 13 b2bs this season.
In the last 14 days of the regular season we have 8 games total, starting with San Antonio and @ Washington, and then two b2bs (3/30 @ Milwaukee - 3/31 Utah, 4/4 @ Philly - 4/5 Toronto). The b2bs are 4 games in 7 days. After that the last two games of the season are two home games against Toronto and Atlanta to end on April 9th. This is weird because we're going to have two straight games at TD Banknorth against Toronto, the 2nd game of the b2b and then a day off and then the 2nd game. I can't remember ever seeing this in modern times. I know they used to do that back in the 50's and early 60s when traveling was slower and more awkward, but not recently.
A compact schedule, time-wise, for the first 4 weeks and a compact schedule for the last 2 weeks.

I think the Celtics can hit the ground running. They have an experienced and solid starting 5 and their bench looks formidable.
Going into year 2 with Ime at the helm should enhance their ability to play even better than they started out last year.
The one big difference will be the Celtics position as the top rated team in the east going into the season. No one is talking about maybe 4th or 5th place. So I expect teams will have a healthy respect for them and will play at a higher level.
Bring on the competition!
