Very clear: Joe Mazzulla is sticking to Ime Udoka’s play book on the court.
Bob
MY NOTE: This will help with consistency and on-court chemistry, he's not going to try and reinvent the wheel. The question then is "how will Joe do with in-game changes and ATOs?"

Jaylen Brown on trade rumors and if he's talked to team about it: "Yes and no. I've talked to my teammates, ownership, etc. I keep those conversations between us. I'm here and ready to play basketball, probably the best shape of my life. I'm excited to start the journey."
MY NOTE: Sounds like Jaylen's comfortable with how it was handled, and that's all that matters at this point.

Re: Media Day 2022-2023
I watched all of the interviews earlier.
I think Joe will be fine. To a man, the players appear to be ready to play for him and since he plans on not changing what they do there should be an easier transition.
The players got blindsided by the Udoka fallout just like everyone else. They could not take issue with the suspension because they do not know what really happened. Nevertheless they appear ready to turn the page to the new season with their new coach. They do not need to be distracted by the Udoka issue. I hope the press will not ask them any more questions about Udoka.

Re: Media Day 2022-2023
If there is any good news, Ime was only on staff for 1 year. Granted the players invested a lot of their time in the hiring process getting Ime there, but it was only one year, not like a coach that would have been their forever. But that happens. Not necessarily in this way or form, but unfortunate things happen.
Coach Mazulla sounds very good and has his head screwed on straight about everything. The proof will be in the pudding. Let's get this season going. Ime is gone. The band aid has been ripped off. It hurts. But we didn't lose an arm or a leg. We lost a head coach. It happens all the time. Not quite like this, mind you, but it happens all the time. The world doesn't come to an end.
This coach looks very comfortable in who he is and what is driving him. Ime looked very good. This guy looks even better.
Go Celtics!! Please!!!

Re: Media Day 2022-2023
Ime was a Celtic coach for one year, Joe Mazzulla has been a Celtic coach for 3 years. If continuity is an issue, and it is, then Joe actually has a leg up on Ime.
Joe knows Brad's playbook. He was an assistant coach in Maine for the (then named) Red Claws, who played Brad's playbook, he was an assistant coach behind Brad for 3 years and he knows Ime's playbook from last year. That is, effectively, the best of both worlds.
The unanswered question, and I mentioned this in a comment somewhere, is how will Joe do with in-game adjustments and ATOs. You can learn all you want, it's different when it's you that has to see those things and call time outs or substitute specific players to correct them. Once again, he has experience with both of the last two Celtic head coaches, and that's good. Brad Stevens was considered one of the best ATO coaches in the NBA. Three years with him is good experience.
I had never seen Joe Mazzulla before yesterday. I had assumed, from his name, that he was Italian. Maybe southern Italy...I had a Sicilian uncle named Duffy (short for Delfino) Mascola. He was pretty dark too. None of this really matters in even the tiniest bit, of course, I'm just curious. I love the etymology of words and names. It's a hobby of mine to try and guess a person's ancestry from their names.
Back to good ol' Joe: He seems very steady, very team-oriented as you'd expect from someone with a lot of assistant coaching experience. He had 2 years of experience as Fairmont State's head coach (after 3 years as an assistant coach) and 9 years total of assistant coaching experience. Most importantly, as I mentioned above, he has 3 years coaching with the Celtics.
When Ime was tapped a year ago we were a bit concerned because he had no head coaching experience, but we were excited because he came from the Pop tree. Joe is a fruit grafted from both the Stevens and Udoka (and therefore, from the Pop) trees.
The short amount of time between the Celtic universe rocking news about Ime to the appointment of Joe (assuming he didn't know about it a while ago and has been quietly preparing) might be a blessing. He won't be inclined to start over from scratch, like Ime did. We did well as a team last year, after we got past some injuries and Ime's playbook got burned in. Our problem, as is presented now, was in the character of a few people and not the system. Joe has the players' trust and respect and they know Ime's playbook already.
