Tracy Kornet
Tracy Kornet is a seven-time Emmy Award-winning news anchor, host, and writer who anchors WSMV4 at 3, 4, 6:30 and 10 p.m.
A French and International Relations major at Vanderbilt, Tracy returned to Nashville in 2014 after 8 years anchoring the news in Dallas/Fort Worth. She spent 6 years in Phoenix, anchoring news and hosting the city’s first-morning magazine show. She started her career as a morning news anchor in Lexington, Kentucky.
Named Best News Anchor multiple times by the Tennessee Associated Press, Tracy serves on the state board of Habitat for Humanity and the advisory board for UpRise Nashville, a career training program helping pull people out of poverty through education and job placement. She is a proud member of the 2018 Class of Leadership Nashville and a passionate volunteer and former co-chairman of the board of the Sexual Assault Center of Nashville.
Music City has brought some of the memorable moments of Tracy’s career: interviewing three U.S. presidents; field anchoring the 2020 Presidential debate at Belmont; co-moderating the Tennessee gubernatorial debate and the Nashville mayoral debate; and field anchoring coverage of the NFL Draft and Stanley Cup Finals. She’s also field anchored from the Super Bowl in Dallas; the World Series in Phoenix, Dallas, New York, and San Francisco; the NBA Finals in Miami and Dallas; and multiple National Championship runs with the Kentucky Wildcats.
Sports has been a constant thread in her life, thanks to her husband Frank and their 3 kids, who all played college basketball. The couple met as undergrads at Vanderbilt, where his Milwaukee Bucks jersey hangs in the school’s Hall of Fame. Their youngest son, 7’2” Luke, was a stand-out Vanderbilt Commodore and now plays with the Boston Celtics.
Tracy spent several semesters working in Japan as Cinderella at Tokyo Disneyland and touring with a Japanese pop star as a backup singer/dancer. Other professional highlights include:
Co-hosting The View in New York.
Playing “Nurse Tracy” on General Hospital.
Interviewing Will Ferrell in the Saturday Night Live costume closet.
Did some additional digging and now recall Tracy working in DFW News.
Here’s another little known fact: Some sources state Luke was born in Lexington, KY. Another states he was born in Lantana, Tx. I do know that the family lived in Lantana (Argyle ) 3/4 of a mile from where I currently reside.
Who knew?

Ktron,
I'm loving the WDKX avatar.
If I recall correctly, you had a hand in getting them started. I used to drive by the big old converted house they are in on East Main on my way to one of my summer jobs when I was in college. There were some places not far from there Jo Jo used to frequent during his years living here as well.
Do you still do anything with them?
Regards

Sure do. My nephew organizes the Annual Rochester Soul Fest every year (August) and WDKX is our lead sponsor. Still go by and mix it up with the little kid who became owner after his Dad passed a few years ago.
They are still in the renovated Funeral home on E Main.

Thanks! I’m sure we’ll reach out to your friend when the time comes. There is a fairly new Hip Hop station thats trying to get a piece of the action in having their own music fest weeks before we have ours.
Those little 1/2 watt Carpetbaggers will be destroyed in due time!

Ktron,
Let me know the next time you're headed this way! I believe it's at Frontier Field again this year. They're changing the name to Innovative Field, new corporate sponsor is Innovative Solutions.

Small world, no doubt. The new guy, Dave, or the recently retired one, Gordon?
