MY NOTE:  What a gritty victory by a team that played the 2nd half down 4 starters.  I'm sure I'll have a lot of favorites in this thread.  Mine will be in bold.  Which ones are yours?



I think if we can find a way to score a lot of points while keeping them from scoring a lot of points, we can pull it out. Hopefully Doc is aware of this game plan.

Sadly, that is about the DEPTH of Rivers' plan.

I think the Celtics are a bad match up for the Sixers

Sixers look bad in their most recent game against the Knicks. I just don’t see 5he Sixers winning this game or even being close.

Celtics. IN Boston. On ESPN.   If we don't massively outshoot them, odds are not good vs Boston and their refs.

I really don't see how this team as it is now can beat a healthy Milwaukee or Boston in a 7 game series with Doc as the coach. Maxey and Harden together on defense in the playoffs together will be brutal.

I'm more concerned about us going -32 in the 10 minutes Embiid sits rather than Harden + Maxey going like -2 together in 20 mins.

I see the Celtics are playing 4d chess by resting their starting PF and C to deliberately lose this game to make the Sixers mistakenly believe that we're good enough to beat them and thus Morey won't make any moves by tomorrow.

The celtics have multiple two way players at every position surrounding two superstar two way wings. That organization gets it and actually knows what it's doing

That's true, but when a significant percentage of those players aren't playing and one of the superstars scores but 12 points, they should get blown away by any team with the talent and mettle to win a championship. This team unfortunately is not that.

Sixers clip of the bench was Rivers preaching intensity and getting stops. Celtics was preaching remember the little things after just getting a 10 point lead. Speaks volumes to how far behind we are as a group. $150mm roster and have to ask guys for intensity in the 4th. Pathetic.

The Celtics have so much real estate in the Sixers' heads that we would lose to their summer league roster. As long as they have the Celtics jerseys on we'd lose.

Doc has been handed many teams with great talent and except for our perfect storm year, he has come up empty.

They said the other night that he was going to the hall of fame because he "is a great" coach. They even mentioned his start in Orlando. They were gushing all over him.

My suggestion? Ask a fan.

No they were from the game. My terminology was screwed up. I was just pointing out that these are the same type comments we used to see on BDC about Doc pre-Garnett 2007.

Doc has had some very good teams including the C’s post 08 that underachieved and blew series leads.
I don't know what his issue is because he appears to be smart and know the game but there is something to this. His issues with the C’s, Clips and 6ers are similar and consistent enough to know that something is wrong.
Thats an ongoing mystery. But-

(1) Team FO’s have their opinion based on lots of data.

(2)Media has their opinion based on what they see and hear and some of what they put out at times can be laced with bias. I’d venture to say they know less than the team FO but more than the average fan.

(3) Most Fans are reactionary and emotional when it comes to their teams. It’s more of a love/hate relationship.
Fan’s don’t generally complain about coaches when they’re winning
Same coaches whose teams are losing despite employing the same philosophy and tactics when winning are criticized by fans who 180 and now want the coach fired.

So which of the 3 would you say are the most knowledgeable and have the most credibility?

Doc is a good coach, and based on others who have entered to HOF, he is good enough to be enshrined as well.

Overrated? To some extent yes but he still is one of the better coaches in the league. Probably not saying a whole lot because there are some bad ones with good jobs.
