A fair and not overly hyped take on what the deal bringing Porzingis to the Celtics means

I like the trade. Will certainly miss Smart, but I felt something was off with the team and a shakeup was needed. This is a pretty big shakeup short of trading Tatum or Brown.

Lots of things need to go right, as is true for every team with a realistic shot at a championship. My biggest concern is how does Coach Joe use KP. Does he just leave him out at the three point line while Tatum or Brown slowly walk the ball up court? I hope not, and I hope with a season under his belt and good assistant coaches Coach Joe insists on a quicker pace and more player and ball movement.

I’m looking forward to next season, when does training camp start I’m ready!

The writer and/or announcer did not overhype KP. They did a good job explaining how he will help us be better.

However, he also said things that didn't make sense in my opinion.

*He mentioned that all our Guards are capable and deserving of playing major minutes.
He added PP to that mix in that same statement.

Payton is not on par with the other 3 guards yet he chooses to lump them as guards deserving to play major minutes..

*He talked about Coach Malone never having heated conversations while interacting with his players.
He must be referring to Brendan Malone because Mike certainly has had many of those moments between him and players.

*He stated that Losing Marcus Smart wasn't a big loss but it was a loss.

If losing a player results in anyone quantifying or qualifying that then it’s a significant loss no matter how he may try and pretty it up.
We’ve loss Javonte Green and several others that no one cared to mention and thats why. If They're not significant then no one will care or notice that they are gone.

The 3 points that I noted were i think pretty reasonable. It’s Glaring and needs further discussion as I am concerned

It shouldn't have mattered that Jason Tatum got hurt or not? That's like saying it shouldn't have mattered if Joker had gotten hurt. When your best player gets hurt it freaking matters. As far as PP , he said "EVEN Payton Pritchard ".I think that makes a sufficient distinction between him and the other guards mentioned.

He also seemed unaware that Brogdon's poor performance was the result of an injury. If you're going to put together an explanatory vid, do the research.

KP, JT, and JB should be considered 1A, 1B, and 1C options (A,B,C does not indicate hierarchy here). I just hope Joe uses him correctly and he doesn't end up as an over paid replacement for Grant.

Brad indicates that PP is going to play this year and have a bigger role.

CJ has a big challenge ahead of him as he figures out how to maximize KP's impact. The good things is that he will have very experienced and qualified assistants to help him along the way.

PP must be thrilled to stay on the Celts with the prospect of more playing time. I hope he emerges as an above average play maker.

I do not know about the play making part but I do know that PP can push the pace and know down shots from range. I actually think that he is a SG in a PG body.

True. But his real value will come if he can make plays for others. Someone needs to distribute for us. The Cooz last week saw that as our biggest need currently.
