Logos abroad

We've been in Greece two weeks now, and I have seen 2 Celtics tee shirts, four LA shirts ( not Lakers, just LA, maybe thirty Bulls shirts, and HUNDREDS of New York (NY) baseball caps, shirts, and blouses. No other sports team logos. Not even soccer teams. Why is NY such an iconic symbol?

I read an article about how prolific Yankee hats are in South America , though, and the conclusion was that they were mostly worn as fashion statements by people who knew nothing about baseball. My grandsons don't care about baseball, but they wear Yanqui hats because I gave them to them ( dodging brickbats)

Well, it is a truly amazing phenomenon.
I did see one Milwaukee Bucks #34 shirt, but hey, I was in Greece were Giannis is a demi- god!
