Another slow start for the Celtics but they closed the first QTR out well.  Their scoring was not bad as they put 30 1st QTR points on the board.  The problem was their defense as the Bucks scored 40.

That 10 point deficit turned into 11 points by the end of the first half.

PP was the one that kept us in the game (18  points 6-10 and 5 for 8 from deep.  I wish they made an effort to get him more looks in the second half.  A bit too much ISO ball ftom JT

After 3 the Celtics turned an 11 point halftime deficit into a 3 point lead (87-84)

Is was fun watching Jrue Holiday humiliate the Bucks at both ends of the court.

The Celtics went hard at Lillard over and over again.  He was decidedly horrible at both ends of the court.

Poor Dame he had Jrue and DWhite to deal with, then Jaylen switched on to him for a stretch and it looked like a man vs a boy. We also looked for him on defense with the J’s finding him on switches and posting him up. He actually defended them well/physical as he could, but he took a beating.

Giannis showed he still has the goods. We look so comfortable in tight games, last years playoff run was obviously so good for us. 2 J’s shooting was off, but we still methodically took them apart, did what we had to do. Pritch was great, a spark plug and battler with Cowens like intensity. Tatum was a man battling in the paint and I think 12 boards. Queta battled Giannis admirably, stopped him a few times and got scored on. DWhite and Jrue so heady and killing them with daggers. Glad we can win with J’s shooting off, no problem. We executed down the stretch and were stifling enough on defense.

Celtics' Jaylen Brown calls Giannis Antetokounmpo 'a child' after offensive foul and fake handshake

https://www.yahoo.com/sports/celtics-jaylen-brown-calls-giannis-antetokounmpo-a-child-after-offensive-foul-and-fake-handshake-020001820.html

Ian Casselberry·Contributing writer

Despite Giannis Antetokounmpo's 43 points and 13 rebounds, the Milwaukee Bucks lost 113–107 to the Boston Celtics on Sunday.

Yet after the game, Celtics players expressed their irritation with Antetokounmpo and his behavior on the court. Jaylen Brown was particularly blunt with his feelings about the Bucks star.

"Giannis is a child," Brown said, via NBC Sports Boston. "I'm just focused on helping my team get a win. And that's what we did tonight."

If Brown's irritation was about Antetokounmpo's fake handshake, something you might see from a fourth-grader on the playground, it seems rather humorless. However, he was asked about an offensive foul Antetokounmpo committed before the exchange down the court and that does more to explain Brown's response.

On the play in question, Antetokounmpo swung his left elbow around and hit Brown in the side of the head as he was attempting a shot in the lane.

Heading back down the court, Antetokounmpo attempted a hand-slap or handshake with Brown, as if to say, "No hard feelings." Brown was about to grudgingly acknowledge the gesture. But when Antetokounmpo pulled his hand away to slick through his hair, that showed insincerity.

If Brown was already upset about being elbowed in the head, the fake handshake surely angered him. He effectively let Antetokounmpo know about it with a hard foul in the fourth quarter that was called a Flagrant 1.

Asked about Brown calling him a child, Antetokounmpo acted surprised.

"Oh, that's what he said?" he responded. "Dang."

That wasn't the only controversial play Antetokounmpo was involved in on Sunday. Earlier in the game, he extended his left leg out while Jayson Tatum shot a 3-pointer. That caused Tatum to roll his ankle as he landed on Antetokounmpo's foot.

Antetokounmpo wasn't called for a landing spot foul, which Celtics coach Joe Mazzulla complained about after the game.

"That's ridiculous," Mazzulla told reporters. "Can't miss that. Can't miss that."

Understandably, Tatum was upset about the non-call and his sore ankle as well.

"There's certain calls I feel like you can't miss," Tatum said. "Your job is to protect the guys on the court, protect the shooter. That's something, I could've been out for six weeks or whatever."

"For it to be a no-call, let alone they didn't even get to review it or look at it, then I lose my s***, cuss somebody out, then I get a tech, it's like a double whammy," he added. "That s*** is frustrating."

Tatum finished with 31 points and 13 rebounds, while his team also got the win. A game between the Celtics and Bucks would've seemed like a potential Eastern Conference playoff matchup going into this season. Yet because of Milwaukee's struggles, a postseason bid looks questionable at this point. But there's plenty of the season to be played.

The Celtics and Bucks play again on Dec. 5 in Boston.

Hi,
This was one of the best games, so far, on the Celtics side. The second half of it.
And the best part of it was defense.
Individually, besides the usual suspects, want to mention Queta. He more and more looks like a backup center.
On the negative side: Hauser needs to get out of his mental shooting slump (or whatever you call it). Otherwise, Brad will trade him.

An awful first half, a pretty good 2nd one.  The Bucks were up 17 early in the 2nd and it just slipped away from there.  They began the 3rd up 11 but didn't score a point until Dame hit a T because of an Al Horford zone defense call 3 minutes into the period.  One point in three minutes.  By that point we had taken a 1 point lead and their minds were shot. We really should stop digging ourselves into holes like this, we really should. One of these days it's going to bite us in the ass, it just didn't last night. Last year Milwaukee would have won this in a laugher, but this year they're dysfunctional and we're better.

Giannis was from another planet in the 1st.  19 points on 8-10.  He had 27 at the half on 12-16, so he went 4-6 in the 2nd.  I'm not so upset about his "fake handshake" with Jaylen, it looked like he was smiling when he did it so maybe he was trying to be funny and not truly disrespectful, but he put his foot under Tatum's on that corner 3 and that could have put Tatum out for weeks, as Tatum himself said.  The refs weren't very good last night and I have no idea how they missed that.  The baseline ref was well-positioned, she was watching the play from 5' away.

For our part the only one keeping our nostrils above water was Pritch da god.  17 points on 6-9, 5-8 from 3.  And that was at the half!  Payton tried a 48' buzzerbeater to end the 1st and Doc sent 3 Bucks to stop him.  That is respect.  That's how you know you have a rep.  Every Boston Red Sox or baseball fan knows about The Williams Shift.  That's when the team in the field overloads one side of the field with defenders.  That's what Doc did to Pritchard.  Doc said "forget about everybody else.  Forget about Tatum and White and the rest of the Celtics.  Just take little Payton Pritchard out of the play".  Why did Brad draft 4 year college player Baylor Scheierman?  Because he's hoping Payton Pritchard Lightning strikes twice.

At the half the three Js were a combined 7-22, 3-12 from 3, 24 points.  They ended up with 60 points on 16-45, 8-26 from 3, but Tatum was 3-4 from the line in the first half and was 13-15 for the game.  That's 10-11 from the line in the 2nd half.

Milwaukee really has fallen apart, haven't they?  How?  Why?  Well, I think it goes back to Giannis being a child.  He couldn't handle not winning the Championship every year so he told his front office to make it happen to get him to resign.  So they moved Jrue for Dame (not realizing Jrue would end up in Boston, of course) and now look at them.

It all started to go downhill for the Bucks when they stopped selling Leinenkugel's at Fiserv Forum in the '22 - '23 season.

Bob
MY NOTE:  Rumors are that Giannis absolutely went off in the locker room on AC Darvin Ham (formerly the HC of Lakers) for this loss.  Jaylen's right, he is a child.

Payton Pritchard is on fire!  He has made 43 out of 100 3P shot attempts.    That ranks him #4 in 3PM in the entire NBA.

Edwards 54, Ball 48, Tatum 47 and Pritchard at 43.

D White is ranked 6th with 40 makes this year.

PP joins several Celtics players that can carry the scoring load through stretches of a game.   CJ said that he is a 3 level scorer.  Consider his 47.6 FG%, 43 3P% and 95.5 FT%.

Really gutsy comeback with ZERO panic.  Zilch.  Nada.

Here's what I've seen so far as the current scouting report pattern for teams trying to beat us.  This includes last night's game to a "T".  Mike Tyson.  Early Mike Tyson to be exact.  Remember how he would come out and you had just spent hundreds of dollars on PPV to see the main event, watched the under card and the main event crap was over 15 seconds after the bell rung?!  That's the current rest of the league's Scouting Report Strategy/Plan A.  Go out there, unload EVERYTHING you have in the first quarter and hope for the best.  Well, the rest of the league forgot to plan for Joe Mazzulla who has to date, remained one step ahead of everyone, including our own players.  He actually anticipated this before the season started.  He said to his players, drawing on his inner Larry Bird, here's EXACTLY how everyone is going to come at you.  They are going to do this, they are going to do that, they are going to throw the gd kitchen sink at you...and I want you to take it.  The exciting thing is, there was one coach who was just ahead of him.  Steve Kerr.  And that's the only team to beat us thus far, excluding the OT to IND...IN IND.  Steve had a better plan.  The Olympic Team Plan.  OK.  Joe concedes.  You got me. I can assure each of you on this site, that won't happen again.

My wife gave me a great analogy of the way the Celtic are playing and attacking this season...Much like the way a cat plays with a mouse before it kills it.  The cat doesn't kill it instantly.  It plays with it.  Let's it run a little bit.  Plays with it some more...you get the point.  Joe's response to all comers is you have to beat us for 4 quarters.  One quarter does not a game nor a win make.

Lots of good results from this game.  You guys and gal will hit them.  Rebounding looked very good.  Virtual tie given we are clearly outsized there vs. this team.  MIL just has two dudes that can really score.  That's it.  And Damian was a no show as we pounded the bejesus out of him isoing with JT.  Somehow, we lost points given up in the paint.  Good luck vs. Giannis and Lopez with no KP.

We can shoot our free throws now with monotonous accuracy.  We are driving to the basket and getting fouled regularly.  That had to hurt MIL.

We have ATL coming up tomorrow at home and @BKN on Wednesday to complete the B2B.  What you got up your sleeve this week, Joe?!!

Stay tuned!!

You might try to run from the Celtics but you cannot hide.

One or 2 plays and we would be 11-0.

Slow starts results from poor shooting and less than great defense at the beginning of game.

I'm quite pleased with where we are minus our 20 ppg starting center and shot blocker

Celtics are averaging 18.5 made three pointers per game.  Even though the league has upped their 3 point volume we remain the standard, the measuring stick for playing this style of basketball.

I like the way we are winning without being at our most efficient, we still come thru and this is despite some recent injuries where we were short and didn’t shoot particularly well and we still won. Imagine how good we will look when we hit our stride and get all our pieces back? Love the way Tatum is playing, moving the ball like Magic Johnson at times and for the most part always making the right play. The most improved player on our team is Pritch, besides being such a sparkplug, have you noticed his defense? He attacks opposing players as soon as he gets near them and keeps pressing on them. He doesn’t just cover you, he goes right where you wanted to go and makes you move the other way.

I’m pretty sure that I’ve said it before but I’ll say it again…Payton Prichard and Derrick White are my two favorite players on the team.
