Beat Back on board.........
After suffering with MASSIVE computer issues and electrical issues at home the past 10 days or so and computer issues at work I am back on line, got to catch up on the various topics now. We actually managed to save things off the hard drive thanks in large part to my daughter as I am about as worthless in figuring out what went wrong.

Re: Beat Back on board.........
Bob thanks
All started when the breaker in the bathroom outlet would not reset properly then other outlets went off too. Really concerned about an electrical fire at that time, Finally got an electrician that got things up and running but just as that happened.............poof the computer tried to commit suicide (perhaps it was a Laker fan) Also at work we have had massive issues I could get on line once in a while but it was not working right. Think it had to do with the new $1,000,000 phone system the county has installed. Almost think the string and 2 soup cans would have been better.

Beat, you were away?
Just kidding, welcome back! Tell Marcus with this thaw we're having it is time for him to tune up his golf swing. This is the year Marcus and I play you and NYC in a $2 nassau, you two give us three strokes aside.

Bob,
We have to see what we can do to schedule this.
Maybe something half-way? I'm sorry for not recalling but are you more toward western MA? I'm in western NY and Beat is up north at the east end of Lake Ontario. I'm not certain but I think midpoint should be somwhere from Albany to the western end of the Berkshires. We could narrow it down and see what decent courses fall in that region. Late June through mid July or late August? We'll be coming through toward The Cape as usual in mid-summer and having the family along doesn't work for golf, but I'm open to other times.
Beat,
Any thoughts?

NYCelt and Bob
Would enjoy a golf date somewhere this summer. If we were to get together a midpoint for all might me in the rome utica area. Anyway we can discuss. As for a time frame I would guess mid August or something around there..............but I have no idea where Marcus's summer baseball will take us this year.
And finally I am not that good. Oh sure one lucky shot, hole in one last year, but need I remind you that the "shot" was sandwiched between triple boggies!

I can shoot a triple bogey in mid-August. Or in other months as well. I'll be coaching junior football again but August practices are Monday-Thursday so Friday-Sunday would work.

Re: Beat Back on board.........
Beat and NYC,
I'm in Western MA near the NY border. Albany is about a 45 minute ride for me, and without looking at a map my guess is midpoint is a bit further west than that. I'd be up for making a ride further than that so it is decent for all of us.
Perhaps a Saturday or Sunday afternoon? Friday late afternoon could work too I'd take a half day from work. Followed by a good meal and some refreshing beverages of course.

Perhaps NYC and I could hook up again a hit a course in the Albany area somewhere.
BUT a putt putt course might be a bit easier.
And I use a foot wedge whenever needed.

Re: Beat Back on board.........
Beat and Bob,
If Bob is 45 min E of Albany, I'm coming from SE of Rochester and you're thawed on the Tug Hill Plateau by summer, midpoint is around Amsterdam according to the NY Thruway mileage estimator. Check to see if I got it right but it looks like about a 2 hour drive for all; I could pick up beat along the way.
Amsterdam? I checked and their municipal course is a Robert Trent Jones design! In Amsterdam? Here's a link; http://amsterdammuni.com/. Check out #15 and the creek at about 220-230 yards.
I'm not sure there is anything else to do in Amsterdam and don't know anything about what's there. I did discover the Pro Wrestling Hall of Fame is there. [Insert joke here]
I don't know if there are other courses in that area, or what else is slightly east toward Albany (about 3.5 hours to Albany from my place so maybe something just west of Schenectady) or slightly west (toward Utica) but it's a starting point.
We can widen our search area out from there and see what decent courses we can find. Emphasis on decent nearby restaurants too I would think.

Re: Beat Back on board.........
NYC,
Thanks for the research, sounds like a good place. How does Saturday July 16th look?
We may be able to eat right there, I noticed this on the menu:
Big Bob’s Belly Buster
10 oz. beer battered haddock deep-fried to a golden brown. Served with fresh cut French fries - $ 9.99

July 16 looks good to me. I'll double check when I get home tonight but I'm pretty certain it's open.
As for dinner, anything deep fried and weighing in at 10 oz. can't be bad!
How's this by beat?

July 16? I havn't a clue at this time. I know last summer Marcus had a game almost every Saturday so I would be reluctant to predict anything now. I know a Sunday might work a whole lot better.
Plus any course with Water becomes my mortal enemy. I hope a couple dozen balls will be enough.

Re: Beat Back on board.........
Let's pencil in July 17 and confirm when beat knows the baseball schedule.
If we're good when the schedule comes out we'll see what the tee-time policy is at that Robert Trent Jones course in Amsterdam and book when we can.
Start reviewing your Caddyshack (Caddy-Shaq?) lines now...
Carl Spackler: Cinderella story. Outta nowhere. A former greenskeeper, now, about to become the Masters champion. It looks like a mirac... It's in the hole! It's in the hole! It's in the hole!
