Knicks G Billups 'very questionable' for Game 2

0 | 0ShareBOSTON (AP) — Chauncey Billups is expected to miss the second game of the New York Knicks' playoff series against the Boston Celtics because of a left leg injury.

Coach Mike D'Antoni said Monday the starting point guard was "very questionable" for Tuesday night's game in the best-of-seven Eastern Conference first-round series.

Billups was hurt in the final minute of the Knicks' 87-85 loss Sunday night. He was replaced by Anthony Carter with 51 seconds left and the game tied at 82. He said doctors told him he had strained his left knee or thigh muscle.

If Billups is sidelined, Toney Douglas is expected to start in his place.

This is not necessarily a good omen for the C's. Look at what the Hornets were able to do to the Lakers without David West. Under dire circumstances adversity can tend to galvanize a team. The Celts will have to redouble efforts to compensate!

agree, our effort must be at least as good as it was yesterday regardless whom is on the floor for the Knicks. Hopefully we make the better adjustments too.

Regardless of whether CB plays or not Celtics have to play as they did in 3 and 4 quarters yesterday.
OTOH, absence of CB blows a huge hole in the Knicks rotation and Celtics must use it.

I hate to see any player go down to injury, especially a key player for an opponent.

I hope Billups returns quickly so we can beat them at full strength. No whining or speculation from other fans.

We'll still need our "A" game, though, because Douglas is no easy out. He's not the accomplished point that Billups is, but he can shoot it and adds a whole new weapon out on the floor for the Knicks.
