I wish....
...with all my heart that Lebron falls short.
Here is the article that prompted me to start this thread.
In the name of all those basketball greats that some try to compare Lebron to, please let him loose. Despite broken legs, back pains, twisted ankles they played and didn't quit.
I hope that Messrs. Intensity, No Surrender, Class Act and Co. will teach him a lesson.
All that plus a simple fact that I'm a Celtics fan.

Re: I wish....
No matter what he does those that dislike him will most likely continue to feel that way. He has brough tremendous pressure on himself and even should they beat the C's and win a title few will feel different about him.
He quit on his team last year. Absolutely quit. Then he quit on the City of Cleveland.
So even if he wins he can never undo what he has done.
I too wish we would dismantle the heat and do so with ease but that will not happen. I'll just be happy to win 4 before they do no matter how we get there.

Re: I wish....
The image of the public personna and those values that James presumably espouses have changed markedly in the past 12-16 months. At one time, I supported him. He had me hoodwinked. When he ran out on his home state and dissed both his then home town fans and teammates by quitting on them, he moved very quickly to the shallow end of the pool. What James (Wade & Bosh) cooked up went back to their Olympic Days, none of this was spur (not San Antonio) of the moment. People in Ohio and Toronto were spat upon, and the league now is charting a course for disaster and to disenfranchise many smaller market teams. If you don't have a stake in your team, why buy the tickets and merchandise to support the product. James knows he quit on the CAVS last year, so he will be playing with resolute resolve to change THAT part of his image as an athlete. He will be a fierce animal to stop in the series starting Sunday in South Beach. However, Pierce, KG, Ray, Rondo & the rest of the C's that were here a year ago know that one got away that shouldn't have. The current Triumvared know that the sands of time are running short for them. This should make for a degree of dedication not easily measured on a thermometer or a Richter Scale. It's going to take a monster effort for the C's to derail James and his cutthroats, but it can & hopefully WILL be done!

By the way, I hate to have to have Eddie House on Miami. He's class and I'll always remember his spirited play for the C's in the championship season '07-'08-MD

If that bothers you imagine the dilemma of having to go against Perk in the Finals.

The thought has crossed my mind, but is still a long way off. In a way, a C's OKC Final would asthetically produce no losers-just one team with 4 wins and another with less.

I'm with you, sinus. Nothing would make me happier than to have that "WTF" look on his face again as the clock ticks down and Boston wins 4-whatever. I deifinitely don't expect him to shake hands after this one.
I can't decide if I want him to be remembered as Wilt Chamberlain-like or Charles Barkley-like. Wilt finally slipped in there and won after the 60's Celtics were forced to reload. The more taxing one to live with is the Charles Barkley stigma. Or Karl Malone. I think the current Boston/Chicago tandem is enough to keep LeBron out of the finals for the next 6 years. But they may slip in there like Wilt did at the tail end if we don't keep our guard up.
As I said before, one of these two teams is going home in two weeks.
Once again, LeBron has hung his hat on the trying to beat the Celtics. Big mistake. Very Wilt-like. They may beat us next week, but then Chicago is probably waiting. That may be even more brutal.
Me-ball vs. Team Ball. How many times have we dismantled that one?

Wilt got one in the 60's in 1967 with Philly, Russell's first year as player coach, and for many season and the win total that season was the highest in NBA history for many years, Wilt, Hal Greer, Bobby Jones, Billy Cuningham, Luke Jackson,Matt Guokas....
That team scored 125 ppg

Re: I wish....
I wish for the Celtics to have one terrific series against the Heat, with James coming out on the bottom of the list of players who did everything they could to help their team win. He is all about himself, he has proven it time and again. Don't lecture me about his stat's, I really don't care. He does not have the heart of a real champion. Someone who is willing to give whatever he can to the team to win, not pad his own stats.
There is no doubt that these guys planned this from the beginning. The foolishness of "The Decision", the way Wade played Chicago for fools, and the way Bosh totally disregarded the way his fans reacted when they
found out he was leaving-"I just loved toying with people's emotions" was the quote attributed to him made them the most dislikeable trio in basketball. I am sick of ESPN rooting them on, even against Kobe at times.
It was like they had their own private national television station.
They will probably, at some point, win a title. But it will probably be after
the present Celtics are done, the Kobe gets a little older, and they finally
add some pieces to their bench that will support these three idiots. I have
never disliked any team as much as I dislike them except, of course, any
'team with Wilt on it back in the 60's. The Lakers are are close third!
So, before you all jump on my case, I will say just one thing:
GO CELTICS!!!!!
