Congratulations, Bob. You're number one at being a great number two. <wink>gyso wrote:I don't know is anyone has noticed this, but sometime really soon, bobheckler will become the member of Sam's Celtic Forum with the second largest post count.

Bob's not #2 in any respect. And, if you had the pleasure of meeting him, you'd be even more convinced.

Aw, Sam, I'm just kidding with Bob, as I thought my <wink> made clear. I guess not.
I'm a big fan, and I do hope to have the pleasure of meeting him someday.

Outside,
My post was intended solely as a general compliment to Bob, not as a response specifically to your post (or, for that matter, to Gyso's). I probably should have said, "And, if one had the pleasure of meeting him, one would be even more convinced." My style is to address someone by name if my post is directed specifically at him/her. Sorry about any confusion.

Sam,
Ah. My bad. Now that you say it, it's obvious. Duh.

Re: espn gives me a rash
This thread has been ressurected a few times as an homage to Jeb. Somehow it has taken a seriously wrong turn and is now about me. I appreciate all the kind thoughts and words, including those done with a wink, but I think it's well past time to re-focus.
People who met Jeb will attest to the fact that he was every single bit as folksy in person as he wrote. He wasn't mean but he never sugar-coated the truth. He lived true to himself and his wife and died too young but with class. He is missed because he was the real deal.
Let's bring this thread back again, when a fresh injection of Jebisms are needed to cut through the fluff and bullshit and call things like they are.

Re: espn gives me a rash
Bob,
I like to think I've lived a pretty eventful life. But that night that Jeb, you, Mustang, my wife and I shared at dinner is easily in my personal top 10. I so vividly recall the last sight of him riding off into the darkness to confront some San Francisco hills on that bicycle.
Getting somewhat misty here.
