Re: Stern "talk"
Getting really scary out there, I am really wondering if we are going to see a 2011-2012 season. My problem is that I really can't quite figure out who is
right and who is wrong. Seems the players have given up a good amount, but it also seems that they want alot more. Why should they be entitled to a 52-48 split? Seems the owners should at least make a "little" more than the players.
Who is right? I come from a strong "Union" family, but......some of these demands seem a bit out of sight.

Re: Stern "talk"
Certainly is looking a bit dim right now Rosalie, I know lots has been said here about owners, workers, ect.... I too don't really know who I "root" for in this mess either.
But I do know under the current system as soon as the first ball is tossed for the first jump ball............. more than a handful of teams have NO CHANCE to win, none. Baseball is the same way. Now some of that is on the particular GM and owner for being a bit "stupid" but when you can't spend to keep up with the "Jones's" you need to spend extremely wise, or outspend your mistakes.
Union reps "say" they are thinking about future players. Perhaps but I think they are thinking more about themselves, a whole lot more.
I really don't see an end in sight unless one side gives in. If the players cave would not that put the average fan in their corner vs the owners so to speak?
And the unseen thousands of workers from every team and arena that make less in one full season what some of these guys make in one game continue to wait................ and what of their families?
Could be an interesting week but I don't see an end to this madness.
Remember the old "cold war" term MAD. Mutually Assured Destruction. I think that applies here too.

Re: Stern "talk"
beat,
Kind of an offshoot from this topic, but it is watching basketball related which we can't do with The C's.
Syracuse is advertising a special for this coming weekend the 11th-13th. $44 gets you three tickets; 1 each to the football game Friday night at 8 vs. S. Florida, to men's hoops vs. Fordham Saturday at 4 and Women's hoops vs. Long Beach on Sunday at 1.
I did check the seats with the Dome seat view check and they aren't the greatest. Football is in a corner and I haven't checked on upgrades since this weekend won't work out for us.
I didn't know if it's anything you and Marcus had seen or considered, but if you look into it you might want to see about seat upgrades.
Regards

Although some might think they are poor seats for footbal (top row end zone about even with the numbers) we wouldn't consider moving. The fans around us are nuts and we have room to move around and yell and holler. As for hoops same as you, stuff going on I believe the kid has a scrimage Saturday, thank goodness the football game is Friday eve.
Thanks for the notice however

Re: Stern "talk"
If there is no acceptance by the players of ownership's latest offer by the close of business this Wednesday, worst case scenerio for basketball fans in general college hoops will start in 2-3 weeks and will be increased in coverage by the networks over the holidays to fill in between bowl game times and to supplement the lack of professional games to view. NBA TV may increase telecasts of Eoro-league games. Between Men's & Womens's College Hoops, we'll have basketball until the first week of April. Then is another 7 week drought until the WNBA begins its' 16th season. That likely will be the next pro hoops we see.
