Re: Post Game Philadelphia - Game #1
Sam and W,
It seems like several of us have similar issues.
To top it off it's a game night so I am wearing these...
Basketball junkies, Celtics fans, whatever. Hopeless; sure...but we're enjoying ourselves.
Regards

I have a nerf hoop on my window right now. We actually play horse during lunch. Of course there are several variations of wall banks and ceiling bounces. The filing cabnet wall window bank combo can be a knockout shot.

PS Marcus is in his therapy for now. If no improvement is seen over the next couple week they will do an MRI. The therapist noticed his posture is out of wack and that his left shoulder is not square with the right one ( too far ahead) Needs to do lots of stretching those muscles, thinks he has tendinitis.
And to also add he actually was a hero in our last game, Playing first and batting cleanup the first time since ???? He made a diving catch of a bloop foul ball down the first base line, made a nice pick of a throw in the dirt to complete a double play to end a bases loaded inning,(if it had gotten by him 2 runs would have scored as it was we only won 3-2.) Drove in the then go ahead run making it 2-1 with a single with 2 out, then stole second, went to third on a wild pitch and scored on another one a pitch later with what would prove to be the winning run. He hasn't had many chances being that he cannot throw a lick.
Hoping for next year for now.

Beat, TFYI, he New York Times ran a piece earlier this year which said that MRI's yield many false positives for the arms of baseball pitchers. Something like 90% of pitcher's arms show abnormalities when the pitchers have NO symptoms. The article counseled against doing rotator cuff surgery based on MRI results.

worcester,
Yep, much has been made about that, but I think that has been addressed by Rondo, at least as much as he can. Last year, when Rondo shot it looked like he was shooting it with his palm, and he was.
In this game there was a moment when play was stopped. Rondo had the ball in his hands and he was softly flipping it above his head a couple of times (what was hilarious was that Joe Crawford was standing next to and behind Rondo with a "if looks could kill" scowl on his face, waiting for Rondo to be done so he'd hand Crawford the ball). What was so telling about this is the way Rondo was flipping the ball up. It was obvious that he was consciously trying to practice letting the ball roll off his fingers as it left his hand.
Rondo now has, pretty much, what is a one-handed jumpshot. Thanks to his huge hands he is able to bring the ball up to shoot without losing control. If he practices letting it roll off his fingers as it leaves his big hands he might turn into a very solid shooter. Remember George McGinnis? He had a one-handed jumpshot (and free throw) too. Not what I'd call a great shooter, he relied upon his pre-Karl Malone bulk to create opportunities for himself, but adequate.
Watch Rondo's shot tonight and see if you can't see the wrist-flip as he lets the ball roll off his fingers. It's actually quite pronounced. Of course, if he has an off-shooting night we might not see it at all...

We will take that into account. Therapy may or may not help but she was sure hitting some spots where it hurt. Thing is we have no idea when this happened or if it was even a sigle "event" or is it nothing more than bad mechanics with his motion that just gradually got worse.
Don't know if we will ever know.
I gather having it may not be a "bad" idea but we'll see what they say when the time comes.
