Trivia Question 2 for 11/12...
Since I'm about 1 for 10 in the Celtic trivia...embarassingly
I'll switch to Laker trivia....A friend emailed me this one and I got it right, surprisingly, so I'll pass it along...
Which Laker has the most rebounds, as a Laker, in the team's history?

GYSO
Gotta be baylor/ Jabbar had 17,000 plus but about 7000 of those were with the bucks.
11463 was baylors #
But Mikan never had rebounds stats kept for many of his early years so it might have been him, but we will never know.

Very good GYSO, Baylor it was.gyso wrote:Elgin Baylor
I wasn't certain at first that it wasn't Mikan but I was pretty sure it wasn't Chamberlain (not there long enough, too old). I don't think Mikan played long enough, so I went with Baylor. I think some people forget how good he was...and not to dis Jabbar but I just never thought of him as a great rebounder.

I think Baylor was my favorite Laker, a lot of people forget just how good he was. I wish I could remember one of my favorite quotes by one of my favorite Celtics...Satch Sanders..about Baylor scoring 61 in the finals but in essence what he said was....Baylor may have been my assignment, but you can't blame me for his 61 points, hell I fouled out of the game after he had scored 45 or so....

I totally agree with the "amnesia" concerning Elgin Baylor. He was my favorite player in the early 60's--a complete player. No one ever has duplicated his off-balance,herky jerky drives with the serious head movement and up fake.
He was thee player that would have benfited most from national tv exposure like we see today.Incomparable moves that were indefensible----Dr J but better.
I wore #22 in elementary school--I loved what he did.

LACelt
Jabbar was a very good board man. In his first 7 years he averaged over 14 a game each season. In his next 5 he averaged at least 10+ a game each season.
He did not rebound near as effectively during his later years with the lakers but for 12 years he was about as good as there was. Still ended with a career average above 10 per game.
