Player Outlook - Jason Collins
As long as I'm on Rant Sports, I thought I might as well round up all their articles about players or other stuff that is of interest. What is of interest in this article to me is that it's so short. Not much to say. For a writer who has been generally effusive, his terseness here is telling.

We continue to preview the Boston Celtics roster for the 2012-2013 season and today we look at Jason Collin’s outlook for this upcoming season. Originally drafted in 2001 by the Houston Rockets out of Stanford, his rights were traded on draft night to the New Jersey Nets. Standing at 7’0”, Collins has excellent size for the center position. He is the definition of a journeyman, having played for five NBA organizations including the Celtics.
Much like his twin brother Jaron, he is an extremely limited player who really doesn’t do one thing particular well. He is a very restricted offensive player who should only be passed to if he is either wide open or has carved out an excellent spot on the block. He has a decent jump hook, but again will never be close to being a primary option on the offensive end. He is a decent defensive player who is great at playing pick and roll defense. He is great at reading the point guard and switches off his man very well. He is a decent rebounder, but never put up the rebounding numbers that you would like from a guy his size. He is also not much of a shot blocker which has also been a knock on him during his career. The nice part about him is that he knows his roll and never tries to play outside of a team system. He is a great locker room presence and you can bet that it was something that piqued GM Danny Ainge’s interest.
Collins will provide the team good depth this season. He will not be the primary back up big man, but he can provide about ten minutes of solid play. That is important because head coach Doc Rivers needs to give Kevin Garnett plenty of rest this season to make sure he is good to go for another playoff run.
