Too bad for the kid. Of course, it didn't help that he shot his mouth off when he was traded. If he had an attitude about being traded from one NBA team to another, imagine how he feels now.

The Rockets roster is:

31Cole AldrichC6-1124010/31/1988Kansas/USA2
3Omer AsikC7-025507/04/1986Fenerbahce S.K./Turkey2

Look at how many rookies, 1st and 2nd year PFs that beat JJJ out for a roster spot. I count four, not including Royce White and Terrence Jones. We gave up Sean Williams, E'tuan Moore and this kid for the player that's starting against Miami tonight? Danny's a freaking genius.

Jujuan Johnson Released by Houston Rockets Empty Re: Jujuan Johnson Released by Houston Rockets

There was always something about Johnson that made me very skeptical of his long-term potential in the league. Maybe it was that, although I heard he was a good outside shooter, I wanted our tall guys to be bangers. Maybe it was that, although I heard he was a good defensive player, I never saw him exhibit any consistent defensive abilities. Maybe it was because he constantly seemed lost out there and any success he had was in garbage time.

Sully is such a contrast. The way he plays just fills me with confidence (although I'll always have latent concerns about his back). And Joseph's aggressiveness and self-confidence seem to go far beyond what either Johnson or Moore showed.

Bob,

That was also a good trade for Houston.
Houston had no intention of re-signing Lee.
Lee wasn't going to do much for a lottery team like Houston.
He could be of great value to a contending team like Boston.
Lee was an unrestricted free agent and could have signed with any team.
After waiving Moore and JJJ, Houston still benefitted by receiving Charlotte's 2013 2nd round pick from Boston (probably will be the #31 pick.)
They used that pick in the Harden trade.

I definitely think Moore will be a player in the NBA.
I think he will be a regular rotation player for Orlando.

I would think JJJ will be picked up in the next couple of days as he is young, extremely athletic and has tools to work with.

Johnson will go somewhere; he'll become a player in this league, albeit not a top tier type but more of a steady reserve. He needs to mature a bit first which is probably due in part to his going from top dog to bench puppy in the same year.

As TJ points out, the JJJ et al trade for Lee was one of those rare deals that looks like it benefited both teams involved. Good move for us and Houston. We're going to like Lee a lot.

Perhaps JJ could spend some time in Europe, rounding out his game as well as his physique.
