Want to be an Insider on the New Book about Larry and Magic?
If so, come to a luncheon near Fenway Park and be treated to a talk about the book by Jackie MacMullan, the author of "When the Game Was Ours." A Q&A sessions follows with Jackie, who you probably know is one of the media folks closest to Larry. This book has just been released, and you can be among the first to get the story behind the story on the book's preparation. Plus, you'll enjoy a good lunch in a fairly intimate surrounding; you'll get to hang around a bunch of media types; and you'll received a copy of the book (authographed if you want to ask Jackie for it).
This is one of the really super Fenway Park Writers Series gatherings that occur every month or so three seasons a year. The books are about sports and non-sports. Just a few of the past speakers have included Bill Russell, Bill Bradley, Jerry Remy, Bobby Doerr, Dominic DiMaggio, Johnny Pesky, Frank Deford, Dan Shaughnessy, Gloria Steinem, Leigh Montville, and Lou Gorman.
I have absolutely no financial interest in these affairs but have simply found them to be perhaps the single most informative and rewarding sports gatherings I have ever attended. The MacMullan luncheon will be held on Wednesday, December 2, at noon at the Commonwealth Room of the Commonwealth Hotel in Kenmore Square near Fenway. There's no garage, but there is valet parking.
It's not cheap: $70 plus the cost of the parking, but you do wind up with a copy of the book and a lot of insider knowledge. I know I'm looking forward to it (as I do all of these events).
Reservations are by email only at: Fenwayparkwriters@gmail.com. If you need to cancel, you need to do so before the time of the event in order not to be charged on your credit card.
More info is available at: http://www.fenwayparkwriters.org/
I hope to see you there. If you decide to come, let me know via private message so we can sit together. It won't be an official party, but a beer afterwards in the hotel bar could be fun.

Cow,
Make sure that, when you try to start a new thread, it has a title. That's required. Also, the title has to have at least 10 characters. So, if you tried to start a thread with just the title "Noah," it wouldn't work.
I don't know whether Noah would have been as great for this team as for a more uptempo team (which I was hoping the Celts would become back before that draft). But I'd sure like to have him now as a counterpoint to Perk.
