Merry Christmas to all........ Empty Merry Christmas to all........

Post by beat Mon Dec 24, 2012 4:42 pm

I hope everyone has a wonderful Holiday Season. Perhaps Santa will be good to the C's and put a rather Large Package under Doc's and Danny's tree.

There are so many families that have lost so much, I can only hope they can find something to believe in.

So from all of us here in the snowy tug hill,

Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night.......

To all, have a wonderful Christmas!! It sure is a good one for me, and I hope the new year brings good things for all, especially the Boston Celtics.

Again, enjoy the day with your families and let's bring home a big win in NY.

This afternoon, we drove from Cape Cod to New Hampshire to spend Christmas Eve and Christmas Day with relatives. As we approached Boston, we were listening to a beautiful song by Judy Collins—"The Blizzard." (If you haven't heard it, you can see her sing it in concert—

As the city skyline came into view, I was struck with awe as I am each time I go to Boston. It was my birth place, has always been at the core of my life, and I completely identify with that wonderful place.

The music swelled in the background. In my mind, our car was alone on the road—just the four of us (including the two cats) united on yet another road trip—one of the few times in life when we feel collectively insulated from all things bad and headed toward all things good.

Judy was singing about a blizzard in Colorado, and we were driving up a dry highway on the other side of the country. And yet, just for a moment, it seemed as if the world stood still and all things came together, and we were overcome with joy.

We wish for all members of the board and your families that sense of calm, reassurance and rejoicing.

It would be great to be able to get together with all you C fans. I can't imagine how much fun it would be. Actually I keep hinting to my wife I would love to just visit the Boston area on vacation sometime since we have never been there. Baltimore/Atlantic City is about as close as we have come. Maybe someday.
Anyway Merry Christmas to everyone here and hope all is well.
We are having some bad weather here in Texas and I am hoping both my kids can make the trip this morning to be with everyone.
God bless all.

Tardust,

As you probably know, the poster known as 112288 is spearheading plans for a St. Patricks Weekend get-together of the board in Boston. At that time of year, we won't be competing with the equator temperature-wise, but Boston is nice at any time of the year. Maybe you and your wife could join the group.

As we wend our way home from this little trip, we plan to drive to all our favorite Boston haunts, gaze at the lights, and relive a lifetime of great memories.

I'm not sure whether you live in the Dallas area, but we also have great memories of visiting Sally's parents in Dallas, where she was raised. We used to celebrate their anniversary each March. One year, there was a freak ice storm that encased all the trees and left about nine inches of snow. The combination of high-powered rear wheel drive and drivers without snow driving experience left incapacitated cars all over the place. My wife and I walked around and helped a number of older women extract their cars from tight parking spaces. Two days later, the snow was gone and we played golf among patches of beautiful azaleas.

Here's hoping you and your children are now enjoying a Merry Christmas together.

Thanks Sam,
Well as luck would have it we are having one of those same type storms now. Everyone advised to stay off he road. Postpone Christmas until tomorrow. (hopefully) . I live a halfway between OKC and Dallas. Snow on Christmas day doesn't happen a lot here but we got it going on now.

Merry Christmas everyone!!

Sam[I know how you feel, when driving around the city it brings back all the memories of a childhood that was wonderful. I had great parents (my Dad is gone, but my Mom, at 92, is still going strong. I guarantee you she has already told my sister that SHE WILL BE WATCHING THE CELTICS this afternoon.

The North End was a place my Dad would take us to go shopping not only for the holidays, but any time he felt like it! My Grandfather ran a small grocery store in Waltham and when he died his little book with what everyone owed him for groceries they didn't have money for at the time disappeared. I am sure my Grandmother got rid of it. They were wonderful people.

This time of year drags all the memories we have in that "vault" that the kids today laugh at when we start talking! Walk, WHO WALKS!! they would say. Mrs. who????? Who the heck is she? Oh she used to live four houses up on the other side of the street, she was a nice lady. The kids just laugh,
say we are making half of what we say up, but they are there.... those memories.

I grew up in a much simpler time, as you did Sam, and appreciate all those small things I remember. 7 fishes on Christmas Eve, a house so crowded with family, no where to sit. We loved it all.

Boston is a beautiful city. I loved going there, as I said, starting with my Dad. Went shopping there every Saturday with my girlfriend, went to school there, and when it came time for my daughter to go to school, I convinced her she would love going to school in the city, and she did. She ended up
at Suffolk, and now lives in Somerville. Goes to the city weekly and loves it.

Thanks for your reminder, Sam, of all the wonderful memories I have. Again,
my very, very best to you and your family and all the other board members on this wonderful Family day!!

Love
Rosalie
