Wilcox, Melo on the mend, should return soon
CSNE
BOSTON -- Boston Celtics big men Chris Wilcox and Fab Melo are currently sidelined by injuries. But following the C's win over the Phoenix Suns on Wednesday, both told CSNNE.com they plan to be back on the court soon.
Wilcox (sprained ulnar collateral ligament, right thumb) was evaluated by doctors on Tuesday and expects to practice with the Celtics on Sunday.
"I'm just trying to shoot the ball right now and catch it," he said. "It doesn't really hurt, it's just a little uncomfortable. I think the more reps I get, the more comfortable I'll get with it."
Melo expects to be cleared to practice on Thursday following a final test for a concussion he suffered last week. The rookie 7-footer banged his head on the doorway of a South Dakota hotel room while he was assigned to the Maine Red Claws (NBA Development League). The Celtics recalled him a week ago for further testing.
"I am going to have the last test tomorrow," he said. "Every test I have been doing is pretty good."
Melo said he is no longer suffering from headaches or blurred vision. He does not know how long he will stay with the Celtics or if he will be re-assigned to the Red Claws to begin playing again.
