In losing Rajon Rondo and Jared Sullinger to injury, along with trading away Jason Collins, the Boston Celtics might have lost three of their best charge-takers last month. It clearly hasn't diminished a defense that continues to improve, but charge-taking is way down, with captain Paul Pierce and Avery Bradley left to carry the flickering torch. Despite playing in a mere 38 games, Rondo is still clinging to the top spot. A look at the season leaderboard, with help from data logged by Synergy Sports:
19 - Rajon Rondo
18 - Paul Pierce
15 - Jared Sullinger
13 - Avery Bradley
10 - Kevin Garnett, Jeff Green,
8 - Jason Collins
6 - Jason Terry
5 - Chris Wilcox
3 - Leandro Barbosa
2 - Courtney Lee, Brandon Bass
0 - DJ White, Fab Melo, Jordan Crawford

MY NOTE: Interestingly Courtney Lee, who is a superior defender and has played a lot of minutes, only has 2 charges. It's also impressive that Sully, for as long as he has been out and as relatively few minutes he played, is still #3. We've all gotten down on Rondo for his lackadaisical defense this year, but he has been out for almost 1/4 of the season already (we're 14-5 without him, that's 19 games out of 82) and he's still #1.

That is one stat about Rondo's defense that I haven't given him credit for.
Also pretty sad that Bass with his lack of height and not added that to his defense.

I feel like Lee is from a similar school as AB, where he tries to back peddle and strip his guy of the ball on the way back more often. In addition he is usually chasing jump shooters - so he isnt in position to draw charges very often.
