Chris Paul Told Clippers He'd Sign with Houston if Doc Talks Broke Down

The report is that he'd go to Houston and join James Harden and Howard if they didn't land Doc. I'm not sure how Houston could afford him.

What's interesting about this, to me, is that given the choice between playing with his good friend Dwight Howard and playing for Doc, he went with Doc.

That says good things about Doc, not so good things about Howard (or, at least, not as good as Doc). It also says that Chris Paul has a good understanding of the importance of a coach and doesn't think it's all about him on the court. It also says that Danny did a good job, being patient, and letting Chris Paul work his will on Clippers management so as to maximize what we got for Doc. That deal "died" several times because Danny didn't act overeager. Trader Danny is one cool cucumber.
